We have 3 boys 7,8 & 12 and we go all year round. We're away end of october and then again on xmas eve as soon as I finish work. We take our bikes and plenty of warm clothes. Last year we went away for xmas and spent xmas day walking along the beach at Brighouse Bay. It sure as h#*l beats having to spend the day with the relatives you only see at xmas and funerals, lol.
Go on try it,if you don't like just pack up and go home.

How many families go away in the winter ?
We have been camping for 4 years now and we can`t get enough so decided to look for a caravan for winter use and use the folding camper in the summer. I would hate to go away and find that we are the only family on site.
So come on you lot convince me I`m doing the right thing . Got to find a caravan fiirst though .
We bought a 12 year old bessacarr 5/6 berth cameo four and a half years ago, still going strong.I would recomend you look for one of these(several on e-bay at the moment)because of the Alde wet heating system on these caravans. They are far superior to those vans with blown air heating i.e so much warmer in winter. We have two children aged 8 and 10,we use the van all through the winter and a lot of the time on c.l.s.Many a time there has been other families and the children all play together in the field. This weekend we are of to a farm c.l. in ferry lane in chester(caravan club c.l.) £8 a night friday and saturday and he does'nt chase us off at 12 oclock.we take the kids straight from school on friday and make sure we are back before dark on sunday evening to reverse van back on drive in the daylight!I really can't recomend enough the idea of winter caravanning,we paid £4500 for our caravan and if it caght fire tomorrow it wouldnt owe me a penny!!!!!!!!!!!! we have used our van about 50 times since we bought it and it has made our kids outdoor children.so go for it you will not regret it

Thanks for replies I am convinced and I can`t wait to get a caravan now. I hate winter and love it when Spring arrives and we can go camping, so shouldn`t develope the winter blues this year. I was scarred that we would go away and be the only family and my son (only child) would have no one to play with.
Looked at loads of Caravans and Steve I`ve got to admit the Bessacar one we saw the other day with very top notch, will keep an eye out for one. Thanks
Providing it is not icey and dangerous we have every intention of going away in the Winter. Site have already been booked for Nov and Dec just now need to plan for Jan, Feb and Mar!
