We are going on Saturday and will buy our food and drinks there - there is Subway (as has already been mentioned), plus lots of other food outlets.  It's not cheap, but it's only one day!  We prefer to keep all our carrying capacity for brochures and accessory shopping!!
But once you have eaten it you won't have to carry it !!
True - but we always fall in with the door, so would have to carry the food around for 3 hours or more, together with the ever-increasing stack of brochures we always collect!!  We're not keen on soggy, curled up, or warm sarnies either, so to have food that is still edible by lunchtime, we'd need the extra bulk and weight of a cool-bag.  Each to their own, but we prefer to buy our food at the show.

We're going tomorrow and although taking my food on a day out is something i am completley against doing normally i break that rule when it comes to the NEC because of the price and condition of the food i've found to be on sale.
Humping it around isn't a problem because i make Steve carry it

Hi all,

It is such a shame a lot of us seem to be going on Saturday and I agree with the post above it would be nice to have a stall/area where we could all meet and have a cup of coffee...It is only once a year afterall...

Anyway if anybody is interested I will be the one walking round with huge smiles on my face walking round with a miserable OH and his friend... lol... miserable cos his wallet might just have to take a few hits....

Hope you all have a good time there... I will....

We have just arrived back from the show which is good, the food varies greatlly but as previously stated is expensive, ie two coffees and two sandwiches £11 and not the most appetising, there are plenty of places to sit and eat your own food as many were doing today, what ever you decide have a nice day and dont buy too much.

We just got back too. i already said something on another post. I will repeat.

It is better to eat out in the atrium sooner than in the actual halls. I had a large chicken and sweetcorn baguette £2.95 and a cup of Tea £1. I dont think thats a rip off.

Inside the hall tea was £1.60 per cup. Main meal started at £6.95, extra for chips, salad etc. on the side. Plenty of places to buy food, and also seating areas to eat if you take your own food. Must say we took our own rather than buy food there.

I never normally take food with me to shows.

I prefer to just pay extra on the day, rather than lug food around.

I'm normally very relaxed when it comes to paying for the occasion.

I rather stupidly, just pay the going rate.

However, lasts years show put me right off this idea!

I just could not believe how much they wanted for complete tosh.

I'm willing to pay up to £5 for a "snack" and a drink.

When a beef baguette and drink comes to £7.50, you really have to question your gullibility.

This year we decided to take our own, and what a good idea it was.

No queueing, better choice and better food.

Yes we had to carry a bag, but we could have checked it in.

But since we had to carry all the brochures anyway, it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be.

We had a great picnic, and didn't get the bad taste in the back of my mouth that i had just had my pants pulled down!

If Mcdees can do a big mac meal/baguette meal for around £3.50, then anything dearer is just a rip off.

I used to think that taking your own food was a bit sad. But there is a limit, and the NEC reached mine!!!

We went on wed and thurs, first day we took food with us after reading this thread but found the food prices not too bad so didn't bother on the second day.
We bought two sandwiches, a coke and a tea and two cakes, came to £12. Not the cheapest, I know but we though quite reasonable and nice food too. Don't mind paying a little more if it's nice.

We are going tomorrow(sat) and will take a packed lunch. We leave it in the car so we can have a proper break from walking around.Only takes a few minutes on the bus back to the car park and it's much more peaceful.

We go to the caravan show every year & always take a sandwich to snack on & something to drink with us. You can step outside the show area into the main part of the building & there are seats there you can use, otherwise you'll not find anywhere to sit in the show unless you're in the CC or sit in a caravan.

I won't pay their food prices on principle.
