Hi guys. This is excactly the product I've been looking for in preparation for our seasonal pitch next year. Do I read correctly in that we shouldn't turn the tap on fully but just about half way or just a trickle? Is there a method or do we just guage the water pressure on site and use trial and error?

Davie

I have the mains water fill kit for our Aquaroll and find it works very well.

If its the correct grade hose it shouldn't have any trouble coping with mains water pressure. Ours is fine with the supply tap fully open.

Having seen the previous link, where its using a green hose, "Food Grade" hose should be coloured blue according to a friend that works in the food manufacturing business. Its so it can be easily identified from non food grade hose.

Come to think of it, when my brother built his own house, he laid his own water pipe from the boundary to the house (I helped him with it), and although not a hose, the plastic pipe he used was also blue, which links in to the colour coding being BLUE for water supply pipe.

The kit we have has a blue hose, and the ones sold in our local Caravan dealers are all blue hose too. Have seen Motorhomes using a lay flat hose reel for topping up their storage tanks and that has been blue as well.

If you're buying from ebay, just make sure the hose you receive is infact of FOOD GRADE and not a cheaper alternative!

Surely it doesn't matter what colour the hose is if you don't drink the water. We don't ever drink the water from the aquaroll.

'If its the correct grade hose it shouldn't have any trouble coping with mains water pressure. Ours is fine with the supply tap fully open.'

We had the correct grade hose in the south of france and it burst.  Mains water pressure can vary and obviously even more so on the continent.

Why buy anything but food quality hose?  We drink the water from the aquaroll and I bet the hose is no worse than the pipe that feeds the water to the supply tap.

Thanks for all the useful coments and the ebay link.  Have just ordered one for DH for Christmas - not a very romantic gift but useful nonetheless and would make me feel less guilty about using the shower in the van!

Whatever system you use, I would advise turning off the site tap when you are not there.  No point in keeping your hose under pressure unnecessarily.  If pressure on the site is high, turning off overnight is a good idea too.
