I have to laugh on behalf of OH, I think the comment is a bit over the top! we are new to the caravan game, having just sold the folding camper, and wanted to pick the brains of all you guys, but the battery will stay on the list. many thanks for the replies

Hi Sarah 123, we are all different and what we require from our caravan is usually also different. If you saw our set up (see my gallery) and realised just how we use our van, the types of places we go and the fact that one night in every 5 we have to go to a caravan park that has EHU so that we can top up (recharge) our leisure battery, you would realise that, "buying a caravan without a leisure battery would be like buying a car without a fuel tank", is in our case perfectly true.

There are others who depend almost entirely on mains electrics and yet others who demand other facilities from sites that again we neither want nor need.

Just perhaps, in a couple of years time, you will end up like us with a leisure battery that is almost bigger than the van and a 55w solar panel for a roof.

I assume that you have fridge fitted, in which you will need a battery so that you can keep it cold when travelling to and from home/sites.

If you read the op Lobey, you will see he wants to park on a site with an EHU not wildcamp up some midge infested Scottish glen, so to the op buying a caravan without a battery seems a sensible idea.
