Best thing to do for a first timer is lay it out on the grass....Scratch your head a few times then look totally confused and bewildered...A few minutes later all the neighbours will have congregated and offered their help...Go inside, wait ten minutes and hey presto...awning is up... No problem....
If you can, I would try it out a home first, before you go away. When we got our first caravan it came with an awning and no instructions, only a vague sort of diagram . Once we had tried it a couple of times at home it was a lot easier on site. We switched to a brand new easy alloy Bradcot awning and found this took longer to put up! its what you get used to.
If you do get offers for help watch carefully and once its up mark the poles to make it easier next time.
Best tip i can give you is don't attempt it for the first time even if there is a slight breeze as this only adds to the problem.
All helpers and children should be issed with earplugs and then they won't hear you shouting & swearing. I still wear mine!
