My parents used to have a static caravan at Morfa site in Conwy, About 25 years ago they had gales that came over the mountain and destroyed virtually all the vans on site, the best of it is they were also chained down with a 5ft steel stake in each corner.
So can they blow over ???? yes they sure can

I remember the council site at Morfa - the touring part.
We were there years ago (might have been around the time your static went) in a Combi-Camp trailer tent. We were in the middle of the field with an awning, and it started to get quite gusty - but all the pitches bordering the hedges were taken.
When someone who was pitched by the hedge suddenly went home late on the Saturday night we decided to take down the awning and trundle the Combi over to the vacant space, 'just in case'
That night there came the most ferocious gale I've ever experienced camping - you couldn't hear anything above the roaring of the wind and the noise of sea.
Thank goodness we we in the lee of the hedge - the Combi had spring-loaded poles (like a pram hood) to hold up the main canvas, and they kept sagging down as the wind hit them, and then bouncing back again ;)
On the Sunday morning we emerged to find that every tent in the middle of the field (and here were quite a lot of them) had vanished! Apparently, there had been absolute bedlam during the early hours with tents flying away, people shouting, cars revving, etc, etc - but all we heard was the noise of the wind and the sea.
I can date it precisely by the fact that we watched the final episode of 'Shogun' an a portable telly before going to bed ;) (if anyone knows when that was)
That site has long gone now (as I expect you know) to make way for the Conwy tunnel and expressway.
