We were on the Bristol CC site last year, again one that is quite near the city, they had signs up too, so we locked up our water and waste. We have similar long cables and good padlocks.

We remove our pump if we are worried, it is an essential. We also carry a spare, and a spare EHU, which is a good idea anyway.

Stuff in the awning is more of a problem, there is not much you can do to secure tables and chairs. Think we will be keeping our new recliners inside the van when we are out! The BBQ is a worry too.

a simple chain and a lock, bicycle locks are cheep.

Michael we were there last week from Wednesday to Friday where were you pitched

slight correction it was 14th march as i remember it was 42

How do you lock up a wastemster or water butt?  What do you attach it to?

i use a light chain through the chassis and through the handles of all three.2 water barrels and waste container. i am going to make a lock for our pump too.£50 to replace.its the first time i have seen a sign posted at a CClub site.shame.

It is not really any more than you would do at home.

We don't leave easily stolen stuff outside the house so why should we expect it to be any different on a caravan site?

Realistically, anyone could walk in and remove stuff.

We have been very carefull on all sites we visit,we lock our waste and fresh water to the van chassis using two of these, together with 2 kryptonite cycle locks, its a bit over kill but i aint gonna lose mine.

We live just 1.5 miles from the Fair oaks site, you do have secure what you have in that area.....Sadly .

Hi - $40 plus postage, hope just an example and you didn't buy form there!

Have seen warnings before but didn't know thefts were so frequesnr from club sites, away next week so will invest in a couple of bike chains and locks.

Yes that was and example,i got mine from a Landy Rally some years ago, cost a fiver each.

A few years ago while staying at the Brighton site, lots of people lost things from their awnings, and one family lost their money which was stolen from inside while they were asleep. Can't believe they didn't lock the door. After that I made an effort to make the awning as secure as possible. I used trigger clips to clip the zips together on each panel, so they would run round, but couldn't be parted. When we went out we left the clips in place, but on the door zip after leaving, we put a small lock. It is not entirely secure, but just made it a hassle for anyone to break in. On another site someone took our water pump in the night, and left their broken one in its place. These were Caravan Club sites - so it is not only the "goodies" who are members - there are "baddies" amongst the members too, which is very sad.

How very sad.  What a reflection of the times we live in.

Not really - there have always been thieves. Maybe now they are a bit more mobile, though...
