They were showing the caravan with 'library pictures' when they re-advertised it, which shows an oven - this caravan did not have one.

Next, they advertised it as 'pictures to come later'.

Now, they are advertising it with actual pictures of the caravan with the oven area not shown.  The stock number, or reference number, is still the same.

This has all happened today.  What are they up to?

I used to work for a car dealer and, by law, every vehicle coming in had to be given a stock number which stayed with it until it was sold.  I assume this is the same for caravans.  Does anyone know if this is true?

I was told by one of the people I spoke to there that anyone who posted on 'review sites' was an idiot and not worth bothering with.  I was also told that the mould we found underneath the caravan was normal.  Can anyone tell me if that is true, please.  (The mould, not the idiots).

I wish I had read a post like this before I handed over my money to them. I had 10 months on misery with the motorhome I bought from them, and in the end I got it done myself

Now it's the van I hoped to have purchased but it cost me over £1000 to put right. Not good when you've spent £20,000. They made me sick, literally

I have beenwatching this caravan since it was taken back from us and it has now been 'sold/removed'.  I hope it's been removed and not sold to someone else who may have been taken in like we were.

After reading all the above comments, I think it worth informing fellow members that they have a sister company trading as Oldham Caravans in Failsworth, (between Oldham and Manchester).

I have had no experience of buying from them and therefore cannot comment on their quality of service nor the condition of their stock. However they are wholly owned by Glossop Caravans......

I am not suprised to here about the untrustworthy and dishonest dealings by Glossop Caravans. I went to look at a Nesman and Biscoff Arto 69g motorhome, on first veiwing it had a funny smell so we decieded against it. After being phoned by the head of sales begging us to come back and have another look, saying they would sort every thing out. We went back the following week, the van had been washed and valeted and my wife said it was ok. We then agreed with the head of sales all the alts that needed doing and went back 1 week later to sort out all paperwork. Upon our return non of the listed jobs had been carried out and the van smelt worse than ever (the new valeting smell was obviously masking the original smell) when we asked the sales man, he said the smell may have been due the glue from panels that had to be re glued on or from water getting in. Upon hearing this we went back to head of sales and told him we did not want this motorhome, he was not very happy but he agreed to refund the deposit of £1000. After about 2 weeks, I tried to phone him as the deposit had not been refunded I tried to call him about 50 times but he was never in?? or he was with someone and would call back but he never did. It has now been over 8 weeks and I have still had no refund. This motorhome is still for sale and has been reduced by £1500. Just Beware!! Oh how I wish I had seen this forum before I went there.

Hi Kira

I don't know what we did right, but I got our money back within a week.  I was determined not to take any rubbish from this company.

I suggest you ring and ask for Ralph Thorman, he's a senior manager (lol) (I called this man a liar to his face) and told him I wanted a refund.  At the time of our dealings with these cowboys, my OH was doing some work at the house of a barrister who deals in Consumer Law and I told them so, so that may have had done something to do with it!!!

The barrister told us that all you need to do is to tell Glossop
Caravans that they have broken their contract with you and you no longer have any trust in them and want a full refund. Apparently, they have to give it to you by law.  We didn't even have to put it in writing - they just rolled over, so it's worth a try.

We also refused to take the caravan back to them unless they paid for our fuel so they sent someone to fetch it and the driver brought our cheque.  (Don't give him the keys til you have the cheque, but if you paid by card you can ask for a refund into your bank account and ask for the charge to be paid back if you pay byCredit Card). They also refunded £30, the cost of our damp test.

Ralph Thorman will swear blind he has returned your calls and answered your emails but it's all lies (sue me Mr Thorman PURLEASE!!!!!!).  Keep on at him, give him a time limit to ring back, say 2 hours, and, if he doesn't call, ring again.  Tell the lady who answers the 'phone exactly what you think of her boss and ask her to pass it on to him.

His email address is 'rt1 at glossopcaravans.co.uk'.

I also rang Trading Standards (you can find which one to ring on the Internet by bringing them up and putting in Glossop Caravan's post code).  They told me that there's not much they can do at present but, if they get enough complaints, they will pay a vist.  Perhaps we should all get together?

Why should these people be allowed to carry on ripping off Jo Public?

Good Luck!

Margaret

Kira

Just an afterthought, look at the stock number or 'reference' number of this van and post it on this site.  It might just prevent someone else from being takin in.

Hi, New to this so forgive me if I mess it up. Just intrigued to know how you managed to pull out of your sale. I cancelled the order we had placed for a new caravan just 24 hours later and we are being hit for a cost of £1700 for loss of profit, which appeared in the terms and conditions on the back of the, what we thought was an acknowledgment of order! I have made myself ill with worry over it.

So thats how he can afford an Aston Martin DB9. CONMAN
I may have to visit glossop caravans just to reverse my towbar into it!

We live a few miles away from Glossop and our first impression of this place was WELL OVERPRICED and Car Sales con men type of dealership.

I went else where for our new van and saved £2000 and got a bradcot awning thrown in. Were so relived we never shopped here.

well we to glossop caravans about 9 months ago and was looking at a van that weighed 1700 kg and my car is limited to tow 1600 kg and was told ( its only 100 kg dont worry about it nobody ever checks up on these things ) so i said what about the safety of my wife and 3 children his reply was ( they will be in the car not in the van so if anything did happen they would be ok ) i could not believe what i was hearing so i said right ta da now and he pecked my head all the way back to the car, i was so annoyed i went back to complain about him and was told by a woman i will have a word with him, yeah right , so anyway i decided to do things my own way so i found a nice 5 birth van priced at 13000 and dropped a log in the toilet...hope he had to clean it..........so for me glossop caravans are a big no no....please beware
