whats wrong with the RAC Arrival scheme through the C&CC think it cost me £79 last year ,guarrentied to get the car and caravan to where you are going and home, also they where quick when the coil pack failed on my mondeo.
To get the same level of cover the Mayday offers for around £90 costs around £180 through the RAC!! (includes everything - road-side, at home, recovery, double-journey (so if you are going on holiday, they will take you there and back), assistance if the driver is taken ill, hire car, cover for the vehicle whoever is driving and cover for me and hubby whatever we are driving - the works!)

We use CC Green Flag, comprehensive/personal for my wife and I was £90.
Have used them once when my old Range Rover had a brake pipe go. The recovery was with us very quickly and took us home. Great service and a very friendly recovery man. We were not towing the van at the time.
------------- DS-There's more to life than football!!!
Recently left AA for Green Flag. When I called AA they asked why I was leaving and told me if it was a question of the cost they could "sort something out to accomodate my concerns". So if you are thinking about changing ask about a reduction in your fees first
We are covered by the AA at the moment Free (car under 3yr warranty includes car
and caravan breakdown/recovery) but in the past was covered by CC Mayday (green flag) only had to call them out twice in 15 yrs once for clutch went, super service car and caravan towed
to home, once snapped key in ignition again fixed and on my way within 2 hours,
have to say though that green flag uses nearest member garage as opposed to a
dedicated rac/aa operative,so it depends on how good the mechanic is that they send out.

We are with RAC arrival too, are they unlikely to touch a caravan over 7m, which ours is, or is this without the towing bar? if so, think we will have to change. Only used once so far, OH trying to get home from London and the battery wouldn't work the door key. RAC man couldn't figure it out so OH finally arrived home at about 1am, after leaving the football match early evening.
Edited to say, it looks as if we will have to cancel RAC Arrival, so which is the best alternative? our caravan is 7.97m long overall. Wish I had realised this!
Hi i am with RAC through my bank, i am with Barclays bank and i have a Barclays aditions plus account this covers me in any car and when i have had trouble they have always been there to help, i broke down after getting of the ferry from the Isle Of Wight i had not even left Portsmouth when this happend and they came and tryed to fix the car and when the could not they towed us all the way home, it is about £14 a month but u get lots of other things covered with this deal
I also have RAC cover through Barclays. You need to be aware that it does not cover your caravan if anything goes wrong with it (ie flat tyre). They will only recover the caravan if the fault is with the car. If the van gets a fault you are scuppered. There is also a maximum caravan length they will recover in the small print, which from memory is 7m.
I have actually taken out Mayday cover in addition to our RAC cover, as our van is just over 7m and I want the peace of mind that the van is covered as well.
If your car is leased or on Motablity the CC Mayday will not cover you, check it out, my car is on Motability and i have gone with RAC Arrival to cover me when i am towing, the car is covered by the RAC through the Motability but they will not touch the caravan, confused so was i, hope you understand this.
