patty2000, like you, I would not have given a thought to a van being an insurance write off! When buying from a dealer I assumed that there is come back for any problems and that they would have done checks that it is not stolen etc before they buy it as they could come unstuck. It could be worth going down the small claims court route as I think the limit was raised to £10,000. (need to check). Also I am CHRIS registered and they did not take long to check the register etc. so you have been very unfortunate with the time lapse, perhaps someone not doing their job properly..
