No, I haven't seen any clear energy savers, but they are available in all the normal shapes.
Tesco did some good offers (BOGOFs) and I stocked up on the candle shaped ones, which also fit well in our caravan mains fittings. I think they worked out at £1 each. Ordinary candle bulbs were/are not much less.
Mail order often works out cheaper for the more unusual bulbs, and is good for the halogen ones used these days in caravans.
My main problem is with the price of the dimmable ones as we have dimmers in most rooms.
The stopping selling on sept 1st is currently only affecting 100W and above lamps, and pearl lamps, there are a few companies doing halogen globes that look like old style lamps, but are a halogen capsule inside.
CFLs take a few seconds to warm up, which gets longer as the lamp ages, I have nearly all CFLs in my house, with the exeption of the kitchen that has an old style tube and some 12V halogens in.
HOWEVER if you know where to go (ie theatrical/display sellers) they are still being sold (for now) for non-home use.
1 more thing, dont put normal CFLs on a dimmer switch, there are some models on the market that allow for this, but expect to pay up to £10 a lamp.
