I love the shower in our van..if youve paid to have the luxury of the end washroom like we have..then you'd be silly not to use it i think....

I open the skylight for ventilation and i give the shower walls a quick rub down with a sponge afterwards...

Its great when youre on a super pitch..cos then you have constant runnin water but when on a normal pitch..you just have to use the water more sparingly..to save on trips to fill up the aqua roll..but i love the privacy of my own shower/bathroom...

live in van for 6 months in winter .never use sites so have a shower regularly. .have instantanious hot water uses less than a good wash. why pay for the facility n dont use it, beyond me. i have seen some vans were they dont use the cooker so it,ll fetch more on resale, mental if you ask me. cheers alan.

This always seems an odd question to me we don't have the luxury of a shower in our van, but I want one and an oven in whatever we get next. Isn't that why they're put in? I want a caravan to 'live in' not a caravan that's a show home where we can't use things 'just in case'.

I think one reason that some people try and avoid site facilities and is not mentioned is shyness.  Another is avoiding a walk ( although someone will have to to refill the aquaroll.  I have seen some people drive a car to the block and leave it parked almost blocking the road.  If you are on a site with serviced pitch then it is likey to have good shower facilities as well.

In a total of over 15 years camping (almost every weekend from March to October, plus holidays, so LOTS of nights!!), I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I've stayed on a site with showers!  So yes - we use the shower in the 'van!  The shower was the biggest reason we went for an end-bathroom layout, and would be loathed to have anything else (except maybe one of those 5-tonne coach-built motor-homes with the toilet and wash-basin in a room at one side and the shower at the other, the doors of which you can join together to make a big bathroom when needed!!).

Our shower is an over toilet one and I wouldnt trust the seals to keep the water from escaping.  We occasionally use club sites and when we do we use the showers.  We mostly camp at farm sites and we are quite happy using the sponge and bowl method for an all over body wash.

We use the sites with no toilet block sometimes. We have two aquarolls so no problems, I just make sure they are full and waste master empty before use.

Our Burgundy has the shower in front of the loo, but has a plastic folding door. We dont like shower curtains -they seem to stick to you!!!

After use we wipe the shower tray clean and dry. The roof vent gets rid of the steam! If is cold the blown air heating vents into the loo so it dries out quickly!

Our last caravan had a full shower unit.  We never used it - not because we were trying to protect the 'van but because we found the space was better utilised as an area for wet jackets and boots (of which we always had plenty camping in the UK) and wet towels (especially the dog towel).  We put a couple of the stick on hooks on and used them.  It worked well for us.

Our van has quite a small washroom, However I would much rather shower in the van, I love it, I know its clean and I don't have to rush to get dressed or poddle over to the washblock in the freezing cold and wet and 1 aquaroll is enough for 3 showers if you are being economical. Doesn't bother me filling it up or emptying waste

A lot of times though this year we have been to no facility sites anyway which I suppose is whats converted me to using the van. And no I am not to lazy to walk to the wash block (we go for very long walks most days when away) but I just prefer it,

We are off to Ramslade in Paignton next month which has a new toilet block so may use it occasionally but I bet I'll shower in the van more than use the toilet block

Having a shower in the van was the whole reason for buying it. Even though it's the small combined unit I still prefer it to site facilities (which tend to be very basic on sites in NZ that allow dogs).

A new caravan that I have been looking at has a big showroom/wash room.  It has a shower curtain that stops the toilet, cupboards, sink and door getting wet.  But the show curtain does not extend round the side wall.  The side wall just looks like the normal caravan side internal walls, my worry is, is this waterproof if we go for this caravan and use the shower surely the wall must be water tight and water proof or the shower curtain would also cover up the wall.  The Caravan is the Adria Altea 542 DT.  Does anyone have one of these caravan and can confirm the usage of the shower, the shower curtain and the side wall water proofness.  I would like to be able to use this shower when away and presume that all is ok.

We have a Swift Charisma with an end bathroom layout, which has a separate, complete shower cubicle, if you know what I mean, and we use the shower regularly as we like to be able to stay on quiet sites with minimal facilities. I personally wouldnt be so keen on using the shower  if the caravan walls were getting wet. In fact, I think I would get quite paranoid about it!

I guess it depends what kind of sites you will be staying on and how often the shower will be used?

We always use the van's shower (we have an end bathroom). With young children, it makes things so much easier - even better on a full service pitch.

Yes - use the shower every time we go away. Have a swift with end washroom with shower infront rather than over toilet. (Toilet doesnt get wet). Plenty of room as there is a changing area with vanity sink aswell.

We have two aqua rolls which guarantees at least one is full for morning. That way I can have a nice shower with none of this water on/ water off milarkey!

In the morning my wife takes the kids to the site showers and I put all the beds away and get a shower in the van. I'm ready as is the van (and the kettle is on) for when they get back. Perfect! You are also guaranteed a lovely hot shower every time. (Not usually an issue on club sites but def a problme on some indipendants).
