This is a common scam. The caravan details have almost certainly ben lifted from a previous genuine advert, and the "seller" does not have the goods.

Like most scams, it relies on the buyer's desire for a bargain overcoming their natural instincts.

Autotrader are pretty good at removing them when reported, but eBay seem to be a bit slower.

I reported it early this morning and I'm surprised to see it still on there, to be honest.  previously such ads have been pulled quite quickly.

Perhaps other people ought to report it too.

If anyones looking for a "real" bargain buy check out item no. 120471196053 on ebay.

A 2005 Burstner Belcanto with no reserve, presently bid up to £4000, worth at least twice as much!

Is it a scam?

If not I challenge anyone to find a better van for similar money.

Incidentally its not my Belcanto!

Dave

Yes on the face of it, the Burstner does look a bargain.

I have emailed the seller because they say it was purchased in Germany, in which case I would be interested to know if the electrical system and gas fittings are suitable for use in the UK???

Would you happen to know anything about this Dave? - as you own one.

That Adria has to be a scam. I emailed them to ask the MIRO and the MTPLM - reply said "Don't know what that means sorry". If you were a caravanner, and you had a caravan, you would, wouldn't you?!

There's a very cheap caravan on this (UKCS) website.  It might be genuine, so I won't give details, but it's around half the list price of similar caravans everywhere else.  Sorry if it's your ad, and it is genuine - but you just wonder how many of these sorts of ads there are.

The reply to my email about the caravan advertised on here is:

BAILEY PAGEANT 6 LOIRE 2008

 Hello,

Sorry for my delay but i had something to fix this weekend.
I want to inform you that the caravan is still available for sale. I left it in Cheshire at a shipping company because right now i am out of UK (i am in Spain to buy a new house because i want to move back here; this is the reason why i`m selling it).
The caravan is in perfect conditions and it comes with full paperwork (all the documents are at the shipping company). The delivery time is approx. 2 days and i will pay all the shipping taxes. So, the total price for the caravan is £ 7,500. I will give you 3 days to inspect the caravan and in case you don`t want to keep it the delivery company will take it back from you (if that will happen you will not have to pay anything).
If you are interested please e-mail me for more informations.

 Thanks,
This suggests to me that this is the same sort of scam.  I've suggested that it should be removed as it's in no-ones best interests to buy such an expensive item unseen especially as a genuine asking price would be more in the region of £12,000 or possibly more.  Beware!

I see the Burstner is now bid up to £5000 with 4 days left of the auction. My concern was that it was selling with no reserve, but in my opinion its a bargain.

My Burstner Belcanto is a 2007 model built for the uk market but with the door on the "wrong" side. Burstner started fitting the door on the uk side for a while but reverted to "their" side.

Its my understanding that all the vans are built on the same line and electrics/gas etc are all EC Standard as most products are now.

Looking round the dealers last Sunday, they were asking £8995  and more for similar spec British vans.

I might be biased but the build quality and longevity of German vans is far superior.

Highbridge sold a 2000 Burstner last weekend fo £5995.

I would recommend you go and have a look if its not too far. As I have said on this forum before the "style" of German vans is different and you will either love it or hate it. From the photos it looks in superb condition, our Belcanto is the model later than this with different front/back etc etc. See my album photos.
