We have the Swift 570, same layout but longer than the Charisma. We've had it sinse 31st May and can honestly say, we can't find a fault with it- so far. As lots of people say on this and other forums, it's all down to personal choice and what you fell is important to you. So like someone else said, go to the NEC and have a good look at all the vans and see what one takes your fancy. Jan
Consider the 2010 Lunar Quasar 544. Same layout as the 550, but lighter and narrower. We considered both (well a dealer spec on the Charisma), but found the Lunar brighter inside and more spacious feeling despite being narrower. It's main disadvantage is a small kitchen.
We have ordered a Lunar (with various extras). It is better equipped than the Charisma, though is more expensive.
I'll definately add that to my shortlist. The width is a concern as my current van is tight through the gate posts though I wouldn't discount cutting another few inches off the post or even taking it down completely. Weight is not an issue, my towcar is 1900kg unladen (some sites quote 2200 kg)

lunar lexon ew has just that and the extra long front seats means my kids get a good size single each.and they only weigh 1350kg empty the best van we have had to date ours is now 2 year old and we have not had a single problem just check our gallery
Like the layout, I am a tad concerned about a twin axle as I have to use a motor mover to get it around a tight corner onto my drive. Not sure a twin axle would go around the corner and there are walls all around.
the twin axle is no problem we have the same problem at home with the walls and the gap it turns nice and there is only 16inches of space my wife stands at the other end and tells me when im clear of one corner and i can start turning so good luck on your search
------------- laugh and the world laughs with you fart and you stand alone
I do have to literally turn about 75 degrees in the caravans own width. We have a garage on one side of our drive and some steps the other side. Unfortunately, the council decided to move the hand rail on the steps a few years ago and now they come about 1 foot across the opening to our drive on the edge of the pavement so we have to come in at an angle. Due to this angle we have a very narrow opening in which we can get across the pavement. Once onto the drive we have yard of room, it is just across the pavement we are short. To compound matters, the road is not very wide so we have to use a mover as it is not wide enough to swing the van around with the caravan attached. Maybe with a bit of practice and a change of tactic I can get around it though. I wouldn't rule a twin axle out completely but I am concerned about getting it home to find it won't fit. This is a similar concern with the Swift which is slightly wider than what we have at the moment, but I am not afraid to take a disc cutter to the pillar again (already taken a foot off it) and if push comes to shove I would seriously consider altering the handrail on the pavement. I will have to get a tape out and take a lot of measurements before the NEC and again when we get there. I think dimensions are going to make the choice for us at the end of the day rather than personal preference.
BTW if anyone is interested in an Avondale Perle Ulysses that has a bit of damp, let me know it will probably go cheap unless I can find a dealer prepared to allow me something on it. In honesty, I replaced the damp timber in the front but have had a leak on the side since. This has been sealed and the timber seems to be drying out. We are changing it because it's on its last legs but would suit someone like us who wanted a cheap van to see if they liked it, just don't expect it to last too long.
When it comes to caravan repairs, I am a bit of an amateur and hope to stay that way, it's not a string I want to add to my bow hence us looking for another van. We still owew a few hundred quid on it so if someone offered to clear the finance and take it off our hands we would probably be happy.
Am I right in thinking you can return it to the finance company and write the remainder off after 50% of the term? And does this affect your chances of getting finance with the company again?
