Anyway picked up the calorlite propane bottle today from Canwell Caravans it cost me just over £18 it comes with a gauge so I dont have to guess when its getting empty. As far as I know it is the same price for for standard bottle so I think I had a good deal. I had to get a new tail £8 as I only had one for Butane a new plate spanner £1.95 now I can caravan later and earlier in the year.

But it's three times the work to check the bottles, fill them, etc .............
Not sure how you figure that one. Are you saying that it s bigger hassle to check and fill 6 kg bottles?
If you check back, I think you'll see Dragon44's post relates to the seasonal pitch user with a single 19kg bottle; it will be quicker and easier to refill a single 19kg bottle than x3 6kg bottles, wouldn't it?
As for Chaulkie56, the Calorlite has worked a treat for us and I'm happy to pay a small premium if necessary for the lighter load; glad to hear you've sorted a bottle.

Not all bottles come with a guage, i have one with and one without, £18.50/bottle at our local camping shop, most other calor dealers (garages, morrisons etc) don't stock them. You can normally swap any calor bottle for them, however calor can change the rules if they are running out, ie they wont swap a 4.5kg for a 6kg lite sometimes, on both occasions i have wanted one the dealer had run out so had to put my name on a bottle!!
i had these bottles just watch out for the gauge on mine the show full for months then drop to empty really quick better not to have them i think any way i now swoped to bp see through bottles much better no exactly what i have in bottle
We use the BP Gaslight Propane 10kg bottle. One advantage is that you can visually check the actual gas level through the opaque material of the bottle. The weight full is about the same as for a 6 kg Calor bottle, and cheaper than Calor.
For this saving, you have to use the 10kg bottle, which is a bit of a struggle to get into the front locker. The BP 5kg bottle works out more expensive than Calor, so if you can't get the 10kg bottle in the van, it's more economical to stay with Calor.
normal 6kg bottle at CCC site west runton £16.50 calorlite £21.50 ,£5 difference for the same weight of gas think I will stick with the normal bottles.
"i had these bottles just watch out for the gauge on mine the show full for months then drop to empty really quick better not to have them i think any way i now swoped to bp see through bottles much better no exactly what i have in bottle "
The gauge is designed to register when the cylinder is about half full or less.
