Depends on what you define as touring. We do often have a nights stopover if travelling a long distance. I tend to have these on a CL as they are a lot cheaper and am quite content to have 1 or 2 nights without any facilities.

I doubt there's an "official" definition, but I'd say that it would have to be longer than just an overnight stop on your way to somewhere else.

Come to think of it, we have stayed at two campsites in the course of a fortnight's holiday, with a week at each, and so we have "toured". I spent the first week waiting to move to the next, and not wanting to get fully set up as we would for a longer stay, because we'd only have to put things away again. And that's daft, because I'd never think that if we only had a week away and then went home again!

We just go to a site and stay for the duration. Usually about 10 or 12 nights. We then travel around the area in the car to do sight seeing etc. I think most people who want to move on every day, and sightsee on the way, tend to have motorhomes

Most people who choose to move on every day and sightsee along the way, will have a unit that is suitable to do this kind of touring and that unit will not necessarily be a Motorhome.

We sometimes tour that way and sometimes we set up a base camp on a site and tour around in the car.

Having owned all sorts of camping units in the past and experienced the advantages and disadvantages of them all, our present unit, a small 2 berth caravan, allows us to enjoy all kinds of touring. However, for us, it took 30 years of trial and error before we found the type of unit that suits us best. And boy it was fun getting here.
