Depends on what you define as touring. We do often have a nights stopover if travelling a long distance. I tend to have these on a CL as they are a lot cheaper and am quite content to have 1 or 2 nights without any facilities.

Most people who choose to move on every day and sightsee along the way, will have a unit that is suitable to do this kind of touring and that unit will not necessarily be a Motorhome.

We sometimes tour that way and sometimes we set up a base camp on a site and tour around in the car.

Having owned all sorts of camping units in the past and experienced the advantages and disadvantages of them all, our present unit, a small 2 berth caravan, allows us to enjoy all kinds of touring. However, for us, it took 30 years of trial and error before we found the type of unit that suits us best. And boy it was fun getting here.
