Ours in Magnolia! You'd never guess unless it was parked alongside a white 'van.

The comment about CC rules is a red herring....

I think light colours are more easily seen. Lets face it, some drivers can't see speed cameras or traffic signals, so making caravans easy to see is a good idea!

If your van was not white the black streaks would not show so much and you would not want to spend plenty of your hard earnt £££s on streak remover and anti-streak detergent for your van. I too hopelessly fight against the black streaks with ever increasingly expensive cleaners while i wonder why my car does not suffer the same problems. Maybe it is because my car is not white....

BTW i think that red airstream looks lovely. Perhaps manufacturers are worried that bold colours will fade in time leaving older vans looking decidedly tatty. Seems to me that if it is a truck, a delivery van or a caravan it will be supplied in standard regulation white. There MUST be a reason for this and i look forward to a boffin explaining why!

A few years ago most tradesmen used white transit type vans, but there's been a trend that changed the norm to silver. It doesn't ring the same way that 'white van man' does, but there you go.

You never know, if enough people ask for change, it will happen.

I like the silver sided vans

a few year back some boat manufacturers (Bayliner, Beneteau, Jeanneau) started to make boats in coloured GRP.  Mainly navy blue, burgundy and green.  These boats have now all discoloured, dulled or gone chalky and required major and expensive treatment to bring back the colour - either that or the boat wouldn't sell. The trend seems to have moved back to white again for these reasons.  Although we may think we don't get any sun, it maybe doesn't take too much.  I'll stick with white.

I thought most caravans were aluminium and therefore painted, so all the talk about GRP colouring only applies to front & back panels. Aluminium can be painted any colour you like.

I think manufacturers want a standard colour for each range fro quick easy production. You can bet if one or two started offering colours AND people bought them they would all quickly get in on the act.

Don't forget, caravans used to be coloured, greens, browns etc, but now look very dated and shabby. It's the same with bathroms. Thety were all white, then they went through a phase of avocado or whatever, now they're considered hideous and every one wants white again.

In fact most caravans are not actually white but some colour near to white.

You're right about bathrooms - it's actually impossible (or was two years ago when we bought a new suite) to get anything other than white. People do want colours, according to the chap we bought our white suite from, but no manufacturer dares be first to offer the choice.

What comes first - the chicken or the eggshell blue?
