I have tried both step ladders and a "ladder platform", one of those 7-ways to put up jobs, but fealt unsafe on both when putting pressure on the brush and needed the OH to hold ladder steady for me.
Was not sure about leaning ladder against awning rail but have given this a go and found it much safer and stable. With a few moves of location I can now give the whole roof a good clean.

just a thought if you place half of the ladder at each side leaning on the awning rail you could tie the two together at the top with rope to prevent slippage sideways or backwards.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
OH took his car to one of those hand car wash places last week. There was a bit of a hold up because someone had taken their caravan in. He wondered how they'd manage to clean the roof then realised there was a man standing on it using a pressure washer! He asked what the charge was and was told it was £20 but he said ours wouldn't be going there until they sorted out a different way of cleaning the roof.
I have before now climbed onto the roof to clean it. They are strong enough to take the weight without dinting, Now its had a good scrub I just use a step ladder and extending brush.
Bought a Pegasus, but haven't worked out how to get back off the roof onto the ladders, without knocking the ladders over!!
Didn't want to risk scratching the roof, so I took my shoes off...although the thermometer said it was a full +4degrees, my word it felt colder on my piggy wiggies!
Next time, I think I'll ask the Missus to roll it on its' side: should be easier that way.
I checked while I was there: no Mondeo, thank goodness, and the Sales Rep must've fallen off too. 8-)
Just be careful that your car does not leak oil on the roof and you do not wheelspin the mondeo either - both will mark the roof and be a right nightmare to clean off - even worse than bird s**t !!
------------- Why am i doing this instead of camping??!!
