No rabb_uk - Let's not blame the victim - let's punish the guilty.
Here in Aberdeenshire, there are loads of 'floral tributes' at the sides of the roads where these morons have pushed their luck a bit too far. Justice of a kind??
Not my kind of justice or punishment I'm afraid! Lets hope it's no one you know.
I think there is a lot of "hate" going on here including the title.I don't hate anyone nor think so badly of anyone that I want them killed in a road accident.

Topics like this certainly stir people's passions, it's true. And not unreasonably so: after all, lives are put at risk when individuals drive irresponsibly.
I have to agree with a couple of the previous posters though - idiots like this will direct abuse at *anyone* they perceive to be "in their way", whether it's a caravan, tractor (mate of mine is a farmer), lorry or just a slower car. I tend to follow the highway code advice on tailgaters: slow down, and allow them to pass when there's room to do so. The slowing down part frequently winds them up even more, but it greatly reduces the risk of a serious accident, and that's the main thing isn't it?
It would be really tragic if people were being put off camping/caravanning because of a tiny minority of inconsiderate and aggressive drivers.

I think there's only one victim here, your wife. Yes their 'attitude' wasn't too good, but instead of staying calm yourself you then put yourself into their style of driving too, Putting your wife at even more risk, Anger management course needed I think.
"all i wanted to do is catch them up and beat them to death".
"i did have a go at trying to catch them up even with the van on the back"
Forget the anger management course, we all feel angry sometimes and say and do things we don't mean. Just put it down to experience and be prepared for similar things to happen again, then stay calm!
I notice you requested that this be moved to the caravans section where it should be. Admin should do that because they told me they do it! Just taking them a long time!

Thanks all for your support.Had a good sleep and feel much better now.I Wont be signing up for anger managment but I will learn to kerb my temper more. Its true I shouldn't have lost my cool but when someone young enough to still be in school is call me and my wife vile names and then attempt to run you off the road I would expect anyone to lose their cool. We are taking your advice and putting it down to experience. Thanks all.

One wise man I know told me how to deal with impatient idiots of all kinds on the road - let them by if possible, and as they pass give them a good luck wish.
"Have a nice heart attack!" he says gently, and maybe gives a little wave and a smile. Then he puts them right out of his mind and goes on his way.

I think that there will always be some nasty types who drive with no consideration for others and who have no respect for anyone, you were unlucky that you got one behind you when towing your van. Not a nice experience and I understand your feeling of rage and, as you already decided, you were fortunate not to have caught up with them cos you may have ended in difficulties. Don't let it put you off, they would have achieved what they wanted. Carry on towing and enjoying the van.

Was there not anywhere along the three mile stretch where you could have pulled over enough to let the impatient driver past you?
Alas not ult-imates.If the driver had wanted to pass on the first mile of the the stretch there wouldve been room for me to pull over but sods law being what it is the road then narrowed into a country type road with no footpaths each side..Room enough for two cars to pass but too risky to get past a caravan.

Sorry to hear of your horrible experience - take a deep breath and put it down to experience. Sad to say but people like that often cause tragic accidents and come off scott free themselves. I also notice that people treat me differently according to which car I drive - I have a Micra so this seems to make every vehicle drive 2 inches away from me no matter what speed I do and have this urge to overtake. Different story when I drive the Mondeo - don't have this attitude at all!!!! LOL.

I've really noticed this since I got my Mondeo. I put it down to the fact that they're popular choice with traffic police as unmarked cars. And the boy-racers know this.
