I have been looking to replace my ageing Thomson 10" Colour CRT Mains/12Volt, it's gives a great picture still, but I like the smaller pack size of the Flat Panell TV's, 12v is handy but not essential for me due to EHU, as TV's now tend to be mostly WideScreen I am looking at 12", Meos seem to be the best value, with Avtex being Uber expensive, even the Meos comes out at close on £200, yet I can buy a 16" in ASDA for £99 albiet no 12Volt, funny how you don't find 12" models in regular stores only specialised and camping shops.

When you look around the TV shop, look at the back of the TV. If the mains lead is built in it's 240Vac. Alternatively it will have a 12Vdc socket and a 240Vac to 12Vdc transformer. Got mine with built in DVD player for £99 from Asda about a year ago.
I brought a 10" LCD tv DVD player off eBay a few years back for £150 it's ok but not what I'd call a quality product. I've seen them in camping & caravanning stores for more than double what I paid for it.
I went to an Argos clearance warehouse last week & we were looking at the well known branded tv's there & found a lot of them were able to run on 12 volts for a fraction what you'd pay in caravan shops. I know what I'll be doing next time plus I've saved the link for the voltage stabiliser too, thanks for that.
It depends on the load.ie if the item is rated at 100 watts, allowing for the inverter being app 75% efficient the demand on the battery would be 125 watts,Watts divided by volts will give you the amps, 125 div by 12 is app 10.5 amps

presume that usage per hour ?

If you have a Laptop, why don't you just buy a USB Freeview dongle and it will do the same job as well as play your DVD's and give you a recording facility, and give you the opportunity for internet access (with an internet dongle as well) and Wi-Fi access.
We bought the daughter a 15" flatscreen with dvd and freeview built in from Tesco for £130, we unpacked it and its a 12v one with a tranformer built in to the lead. Why not use one of those? It seems most places hike the prices up if they specialise in camping equipment.
I do have one question though. Why do you need a telly when camping? is it not about getting away from it all and at one with nature?

Mrs Crypto is a 5 star hotel lady. I'm an ex backpacker. The caravan is a compromise for us both. If Mrs Crypto can keep up with the soaps in the evening, I can get out in the countryside for walks. So the telly is a small deal for me....peace and harmony.

When did you buy this?? I saw them around Christmas time and was going to get one but as per usual put it off til another time.
Now I've been back this week for one and they've changed them so they're just 240 volts!!! .... Just my luck,
