I bought some cot bed fitted sheets and they fit perfectly for the bunks.  I haven't got around to getting a matress topper but i am going to as the front bed was a bit uncomfortable for us.  Even though we turned all of them over with the knee rolls at head and feet.  We've away next weekend so i am going to try a duvet on top as a sheet and see what that is like.  Maybe yours isn't uncomfortable.

We were quoted over £160 to put the heating vent in but i've got a little radiator that we'll use in the bedroom.  I'd prefer a heating vent but at that price..

Hi Ashwellgirl

That's a great idea about the cot bed sheets - I was just about to freecycle a load of unopened ones (got given far too many!) but will use them in the 'van instead.

I do put a duvet under the sheet actually...never really thought about it!

Hi again Claire

We ended up going ahead and cancelling the Coachman i think our relationship with the dealer had just gone too far-think if we had waited as long as yourselves we may have thought twice-but we just knew there wasn't going to be a van there by Easter (well maybe an ex display from another dealer but not a brand spanker from the factory) and it would be the June date at earliest, so we decided to look for something else.

No progress with the refund as of yet but we have purchased an Elddis Crusader Hurraine show van (from the nec) at a really fantastic reduced price, so even if we don't get the deposit back we still don't feel like we've lost out. Gave the van a good look over-flooring still all covered over and everything in tip top condition so we decided to go for it-pick her up 3weeks today!

And yes it was the reg plate that gave you away-you can't go anywhere!-i work at John Rideal House and OH was picking me up to go to T'asda-but we live just down the road in Goldthorpe.

Sounds like you're having a top time sussing the van out-enjoy!

Hi Yourself

It's been a long wait for you but at last you have her!!!  So glad i told you about the cot sheets before you freecycled them :)

Ah, so hopefully with a duvet it will be so much more comfortable and save me some money as well :)

I've been out in the 'van today just playing like a big kid with a new toy just sorting it all out and getting it ready for Friday :)  I was touching her and telling her how much i love her - i know i am a daft cow but i don't care lol :)

Rachntex, Lol I thort it might be the plate that you noticed. Someone else on here also commented on it a while ago. Its a small world!!!! Golthorpes not that far from me, the funny thing is that people on here are from all over the country too. (just a quick question have you camped at Greensprings? People laugh at us when we tell them we stay there as it's on the doorstep!)

I'm glad you've got a van sorted, 3 weeks will fly by, bet you can't wait! I hope you'll not be like us, we waited 6 months and knew it would be sometime this week for delivery but hadn't realised I needed to give my building society 30 days notice to get out my money!!! It didn't go down too well in our house when I went home on Monday to break the news!!! So that's were I was on weds, trying to get the money sorted for the day after...OH said in a friendly voice "you've had 6 months to sort this!!!"
You'll not be taking the plastic off either then? I love elddis vans infact if we were to change are mind from this one we'd picked an elddis, the one with bunks in. Our old van was an elddis and we always said we'd have another but the bailey was in our price and we loved the layout so opted for this.
Have you anything booked for when it's ready?

Ashwellgirl, I'll try the sheets, we still use our sleeping bags not quilts so maybe because it's padded on the seats that's why it's ok to sleep on. I've got a memory foam topper on watching on eBay that people from here recommended that looks a good price too, I'll put a link on when i get home so you can see if it's any good for you. My iPhone doesn't want to let me do it tonight. But the quilt on the bottom sounds a good idea.
I bet you can't wait for next week, where you off to??
We weren't planning on going anywhere but now we've got this we've decided we might aswell get off again, so looks like home monday and back off in the caravan on Friday!!! Oooh I can't wait, I think kids would sleep in it all week if they had chance, one of them said tonight it feels like home! The eldest said he still can't believe it's ours. That's my thoughts too!

Have a good time next week.

No-we haven't been to Greensprings yet (i quote yet-lol) but it may be on the cards-nowt wrong with stopping local! lol

Am glad you mentioned the Building Society-it's a job for this week i think-we will be brawling if we can't have the van because the money isn't in situ!

We've booked to go to Clumber for 2 nights when we get her-pick up on Sunday-get all the tackle in then we're off after work on Monday. It's been such a chore arranging to get away though-i have every weekend off and OH works every Sat, so i thank the lord for flexi time-gives us a bit of time to get away as all our hols for the year were already booked and spoken for!

Hello everyone form Barnsley, Hiya Claire, been thinking about you all weekend and kept meaning to ring you,,,,,didnt want to bother you though. Glad everything went well for you. Our first outing was abit of trial and error too, weather was mixed, particularly today, torrential rain this morning, the awning was wet through, had to bring it home to dry out, then the traffic was really bad all the way home,,,two and three quarter hours from Malton !!!!!!. We love the extra bits and bobs in the coachman, it feels really well put together, and we slept the best we have ever slept with the fixed bed, and its a memory foam mattress, wonderful !!!. Claire you did better going to the Haven site, our site wasnt very good, not in a hurry to return there, our friends spent alot of time without electric, it kept going off all weekend, think there was too many vans on site, they doubled up the electric hookup bollards, so obviously squashed in too many vans, talk to you soon, why dont we organise a meet for us all at Greensprings,,,,,,we are also looking for somewhere for next weekend cant wait to use the van again let me know if you find anywhere,,,,,lets get booking , take care Lorraine x

Well we're home and had a lovely time!!! Just a small glitch, the dealer had put a red gas connector on and we had a blue bottle so had to get a red gas bottle and couldn't get the shower to work, just dripping. OH had a quick look and they'd tie wrapped the hose down so tight that just a small amount of water came through so he just snipped the tie wrap and it worked fab.
Ohhhh and youngest (4year old) fell out of bunk bed twice!!!! He leaned too far over the edge to talk to older son on top bunk and fell out    He was fine but wasn't pleased we all laughed!

Rachntex, keeps us up to date with any news. We've also booked for climber park in a couple of weeks but I can't remember exact date but I'm sure you'll see me if it's the same time as you. I'll check though.
Greensprings is a lovely site, you would never know you were in Barnsley, my sister lives 10 mins away at a farm and was shocked when she first went. We go a few times throughout the year as family can come to visit then & we have my sons birthday camping party there every year. He camps with his friends and all our friends come to stay all weekend. We also had a world cup party there before.

Lorraine, I'm glad you love your new 'van, pity about the site though. Never mind at least you've tried it. You can cross it off your "places to visit again" list.
it took you longer to get home than me then!!

We have sleeping bags for the bunks but to protect the mattresses i'd just prefer to have a sheet on them too :)  And probably it's just another reason to go out to my "Honey" lol

Well i'm a sad sort of person so i want to know why you've called her Gloria ;)

I can't wait for Friday - we've off to Blackwall Plantation for the weekend :)

Errrrrm Gloria!!!!
Well it's not that exciting......... The morning we were going to pick it up we both were working and finished early. We set off to collect it from the dealers when OH said he couldn't wait to get Gloria!????
We'd never named a caravan before so I was shocked he'd said this, I asked him why Gloria and he told me he was just ready to finish for the afternoon when he got an emergency call from a woman called Gloria and that's why!!!....( still no idea what he was on about).
Once at the dealers he asked if thought the name suited her, I was still unsure but after telling him I had no idea where it'd come from. He told me the woman from work was called "Gloria BAILEY"!!!!!!
so...... That's what we called the caravan!! We thought it was a spooky coincidence that she rang on that afternoon when we were collecting our new bailey. ( god I hope nobody on here knows the real gloria bailey and if they do I'm sorry!
)

so, there you go, I told you it wasn't that exciting.

The real strange thing is that on Tuesday at work I got a call for an order and asked for a contact name and number. Yep..... The lady gave her name as Gloria bailey !!!!!!!!!! I didn't know wether to laugh or be spooked!!!!! Unreal!!!

What's everyone else called there's?

Lorraine, I thought of Cassandra from only fools and horses too! It's real posh name that though.
I haven't booked anywhere for this weekend yet. 12 year olds decided he'd like to do something different rather than seaside camping. So I'm off to do some site searching on here.

I like Gloria's name and it is certainly a good name for your Bailey lol.

We've had 2 other 'vans and never named them as no name ever "appeared" but when i 1st saw the GT60 she was just a "Honey" from Abba's musical film?  Honey Honey how you thrill me, i'd heard about you before, i wanted to know some more and now i know what they mean you're a love machine etc just summed her up perfectly.  This may sound sad but that was the 1st song ever played in her CD player lol.  When dh got the number plate for the back it even has Honey Bailey GT60 in little writing underneath!!!

Awww wow, that's a nice name and story about your honey!! The 'love machine' bit made me laugh. My sister laughs at us having a caravan and calls it the caravan of love. I couldn't stop singing that song after she said that.
The number plate with her name on is a nice touch!! ( might gave to pinch that idea).

Just a quick question..... Can you put the heating on a sort of thermostat? It's too hot to put it on all night so a thermostat would be ideal to turn on when drops too cold, you know like electric fan heaters do.
I need to get the books out and read the manuals.
I'm going to get some small plastic storage boxes for the cupboards too this week.

The dial on the wall sets the temperature. That is the thermostat. The ring on it gives the maximum power it will use whether 500W, 1000W or 2000W.  The ring on the gas heater sets the fan on off, auto or on. The mumbers on that dial give the maximum speed the fan will run at when on auto or the speed it actually runs at on run.
