the average jockey wheel assembly (clamping part) is cheap crap.. it holds the weight vertical okay but bends very easily when fully extended if a mover is used.. the bending loosens (deforms) the clamp and down it all can come..

movers do put stresses on the assembly that normally would not be there.. if i was to put a brick in front of my wheel (stopping it rolling) the forces exerted by the mover are enough to bend the flimsy clamp mechanism.. more so it its wound down a fair but..

Have you measured the actual noseweight of your caravan? You say your believe it is too heavy.

Actually the forces on the clamp are greater the more the jockey wheel is extended.

After reading this post and also having problems with the jockey wheel on loose gravel i ordered the Reich double wheel upgrade from Towsure yesterday (13th) and its just been delivered.

5 star service from Towsure !

had my van in for its 1st service and the dealer was so inpressed how easy it was to man handle in yard that they are going to stock it in there shop.

If you have the double wheel, is there any issue with lifting it up under the a frame or do you have to remove the wheels.
After last weekend we are interested in a double wheel as our rubber one kept digging in when moving it with the motor mover.
Fitted I think it adds less than 2kg to the nose weight.

                                                                                                                     you replace the original axle with a longer 1 thru the plastic jockey wheel then you put the rubber wheels on either side of plastic wheel and they are held in place with a washer and a spring clip,when in transit /hooked onto ball i lift the jockey wheel and remove the extra wheels and wind up jockey wheel into place for travel with the longer shaft still in place.   there is actually 3 wheels on my jockey assy

 Regarding my previous post regarding the Reich double wheel I've only managed to get round to fit it last weekend - too cold up here!.

An easy fit but will have to take the wheels off to travel as they foul the chassis!.

however I don't know whether I should leave the original wheel in situ and only fit the double wheels when required ?
