I would be worried about the fact that would I be able to actually buy the same spec, year and model caravan for the price they quoted. I would have imagined not and then if God Forbid something did happen you end up having to prove you can't buy the same caravan for the Settlement value they offer you.
Well if it's anything like cars that's what happened to us!!
If you have new for old cover, then there should be no need to be worried. If your van is stolen or has been in an accident and beyond repair, then the Insurance company will provide you with a new van to the same spec. - they would not be able to guarantee exactly the same model, if the van is no longer made. You have to be insured for the value of the new van. e.g. if your Adria is worth (for arguements sake) £10,000 but to buy a similar new van would cost £17,000, then you need to be insured for £17,000 if your cover is new for old. They will normally purchase the new van directly, for you.
If you do not have new for old cover, you will get the market price for the used van. If your van is worth £10,000 and you are covered for £10,000, then that is what you should get. If your £10,000 van is only covered for £7,000, then you are not going to get any more than £7,000. If you are covered for £12,000 but the van is worth £10,000, then £10,000 is what you should get. If you are not absolutely sure about the cost of your van etc., it is better to be over-insured than under-insured, IMHO.
Hope this might be of some help.

Actually, the spreadsheet and receipts idea is terrific advice for someone starting out in caravanning - or buying a house. Once you've bought all the stuff and have had it for a while, it's a daunting task to start working out what it's all actually worth.
I did this not too long ago for house contents insurance, and once you add in everything from carpets to cutlery, it's amazing the total value you arrive at.
It's a bit of a daunting task with or without the spreadsheet, and there is still a large degree of guesswork. I have always had a 'caravan list', but since our van theft last May, cost of items and date of purchase has been added. This was easier for us though. Because everything went, we were, effectively starting out again. The whole process was really hard, but made a little better by understanding insurers.
