Is that a mobile phone charger. Yes you can.

If you are camping you will need a proper camping hook up with an RCD

LIKE THIS

NOT THIS BECAUSE IT HAS NO RCD.

You can't run the fridge from battery except when you are hooked up to the car with the engine running, but you could run it on gas. However, a lot depends on the freezer as to whether you would need to. With a 10 amp supply you can use up to 2.3kw at any one time. You need to find out the wattage of the freezer to determine what you could have running with it.

A freezer will only draw less than 1amp but up to 5amps on startup so you will have at least 5amps to play with. Probably more. You can use a low wattage electric kettle ie a travel kettle not a domestic kitchen type & a fan heater on low setting but not both together.

Yes you can run your fridge on gas but it will use a fair bit. Over 2kg a week so less than 3 weeks to empty a 6kg gas bottle & of course you can use a kettle on the gas ring. As pointed out you cannot run a 3way caravan fridge on the leisure battery. 12v power to fridge is only from car battery while towing.

Yes you probably will be ok to run both caravan fridge & extra domestic freezer on 10amps if you are careful. Probably you can also run the travel kettle as mentioned to save your gas.

If the ehu hookup point on your pitch has a trip switch that is accessible to you then if you do accidentally trip supply you can turn it straight back on again no probs. If it has no accessible trip switch & you will have to call site warden then not so good.

The fridge will work from the car while you are travelling, but not when you are on site. A caravan fridge cannot be run from the leisure battery as it would drain it completely in a matter of hours, so they are wired in to the car supply and not to the leisure battery. When you are driving the fridge is powered by the car's alternator and a relay disconnects it when you switch the engine off to prevent the fridge draining the car battery. In any case, the fridge will only really maintain the temperature while running on 12 volts, so it acts more like a coolbox really. It won't really chill down unless it is on gas or the 240 volt mains supply.

You can get compressor fridges that could run on the leisure battery in theory, but some rewiring would be needed and those cannot be run on gas.

Colin
