A blowout usually occurs when a tyre is run at too low a pressure (or if run at too high a speed with too much load). the tyre overheats, (you can sometimes even smell the hot rubber when pulling up at traffic lights etc before it blows)
the best way to prevent blowouts is to check your tyre pressures frequently and look for damage to the tyres.Do not overload your vehicle(s)
We had a major rear offside blowout at 70mph in a motorhome once and believe me, I now check the tyres religiously. It was my negligence and It nearly killed my family......... Dont go there.
