Our first week end away in our van since buying it end of last year, was to Ninham camping site . It's 1.3 miles from home, I had to go past the site to get the van out of storage , thats 3 miles away !  But we were on a learning curve , last week we were at lower hyde at shanklin , about 3.5 miles from home , luckily I've got a sat nav !   Again we were on a  learning trip  ,  now I feel I'm ready to take the caravan anywhere !  Next stop France !  By the way Lower Hyde (park resorts) were charging £ 7.50 per night ,last week , and I think thats the case till end of july . The lovely Welsh lady ,who was on the next pitch , was not impressed as she had booked and paid for her holiday months before!  But like scarletsfan says when your  sat outside your unit with a drink you could be anywhere !

Distance depends on what time we have. Yesterday we went to Leek for 1 night (Wedding receiption) which is 25 miles. Cheepest hotel room of the night - £18.40! Met a couple who were there for the weekend and only came from Stoke.

Scarletsfan, where are you staying in the Alps. We're off next weekend, staying at Les Domes de Miage near St Gervais les Bains - arriving 2nd August and leaving on 13th. Can't wait.

In the past we have traveled ,to south coast ,scotland ,wales too many sites to remember ,but we find that we dont travel great distance,s as mutch now ,

Some sites that are only a short drive away from home are very good ,and have the feeling of been hundreds of miles away ,

I do not have a limit as to how far I would travel with the Caravan....

Just drove 968 miles on Friday/Saturday back from Austria. Considering further next year!

Definitely a homebird me. I don't drive, hubby hates towing and camping in general. so i store van at a local site and camp there as often as i like. he just sets us up and collects us afterwards. Its not the best site in the world , but its a break, the kids love it and no hassle. Furthest he has towed it is Gower which I think? is only about 10miles ..Tbh I don't mind how near or far as long as I am camping or caravanning.
We (me and my grandddaughter )are going to Somerset in a couple of weeks, he is towing me down , where I am meeting up with my dad and other family memebers , and collecting us a week later .

About 1.5 miles from the Storage Yard last week-end.. Probably easier to engage the caravan mover and walk it down than the hassle of coupling it up !!

We do do local. More so at the moment but we have done Southern France, Southern Spain, Italy, Croatia, Belgium either towing or under canvas.

Would tow absolutely anywhere, providing someone would give me the petrol money!!

Wouldn't go more than about 100 miles for a weekend though.  If you go much further it would be too late to put up the awning.  Going virtually straight to bed on a Friday night and having to pack up on a Sunday only really gives us one play day.  If I could get away Friday morning then that might be a different matter.  We have gone just up the road to Conkers, or down the way to Kingsbury, so I can get back to play for our Sunday morning service (being a church organist) while the wife does the packing away - it's a really good system.

For a main holiday, in the past, have been all over Europe: France, (Provence), Italy, and Germany all in the same holiday.  Now I am retired we restrict ourselves to the UK (mainly Cornwall or Pembrokeshire) at least until the mortgage has finished.  (Wife still works so are confined to school hols.)  Then with that extra cash, I'm positive I will feel the urge to part with some of that cash to P & O Ferries.

The most we have been is 100 miles, only our second year and still getting used to towing.

We tend to go for long weekends within 50 miles, and as im a novice at towing i always double check my route making sure im not going to have to reverse up narrow lanes, google street view is great for planning a trip.

Thinking of breaking the 100 mile barrier next year
