My other question would be, do you have them fitted on your car.  If not, and you believe in them, why not?

I'm not trying to be argumentative, and I don't see a downside to having them, unlike stabilisers.  It's just from my own experience, I don't need them.  If you're reasonably alert, and ready to respond to a situation, it's OK.

Actually Tyron simply say that they are fitted to most police traffic cars, not all. You did indicate that they do not have TUV approvals but I note that you recognise that they say that they do have. Its up to each individual to take a view as to whether the evidence from around the world is correct or misleading and then whether to have them or not.

As regards the original question, Tyron has changed the commodity to suit changes in tyre design, and apparently they are still used by many organisations around the world, despite those changes in tyres, for safety reasons, and Insurance companies encourage their use. They could all be wrong

The police get lots of bits of kit for free 'on test'- I'm sure the very next day they advertise on their websites 'as used by the police'.

Don't forget that adding extra mass to wheels will also increase fuel consumption.
