I'd like to use the shower but with my hair even with turning the flow off to soap up etc I'd still take almost a full aqua roll. Ours is a separate sealed plastic unit so not bothered about damp but its great for doing the kids, they are only 6 & 3 so they go in together and get a good hosing down - which cuts my shower time at the shower blocks as I can just do myself.
We have some multi service pitches booked next year so I'll be looking forward to my caravan showers then.
We often go to sites with no facilities so use our shower then. If there are facilities on the site we use either or both. We have a lovely end bathroom with a separate shower which is quite powerful. We use as much ventilation as possible and always wipe the shower down properly.

Use mine all time, quick rinse down, water off soap up and shampoo on, water back on hey presto one clean caravaner and only use about 10 ltrs of water, mrs can do hair etc and only use about 15 ltrs so not to bad, better still get two of you in at once, saves even more water and adds to the fun. thats me not havingfun then lol
------------- If its not broke, dont fix it, and stop nagging
There are 5 of us and sometimes 6 so using the shower in the 'van would take a lot of water. We also picked a 6 berth 'van with a shower which really isn't big enough to use as a shower iykwim. If the shower was big enough, had room for changing, was properly sealed and we had access to unlimited water then i'd use the one in the 'van. But as we don't have any of that we use the site facilities. I'm also concerned about damp so that is another reason why we don't use the onboard shower.
We are quite happy treking over to the shower block when we need one
Just the two of us, so we normally use the sites showers, but occasionally use the caravans shower whilst staying on a CL, although we are in the throws of sorting out the cold water supply to the bathroom tap at the moment, so will be using the sites showers for our next trip out.

We also use ours on occasions it depends on what the facilities are like, but we can often go to places that don't have any so it's used then.
There is only the two of us and if we had children with us I think we probably would not use the shower so much and opt for the facilities.
We don't worry about damp from the shower as modern van showers are designed to be used and if you dry and air afterwards there should be no problem.
If you do decide to pick one with a shower you should try them out for size before you buy, take off your shoes though so you dont scratch the tray and shut yourself in, make sure you can bend down easily in it, turn round, lift your arms etc.
Ours is a square cubicle and has a ledge built into one panel which is very handy, not only do we stand the shampoo on it but you can also sit on it if you want and I use it everytime to put a foot on to wash my feet & shave my legs.
Another big plus point to using your own is it's easy to swill the suds off "underneath" as you can detach the shower from it's rail and aim it where you want whereas most shower blocks have fixed shower heads and it's tricky to make sure you're clean and rinsed properly.
Using a shower in a caravan is guaranteed to introduce damp. Other things also guaranteed to introduce damp include cooking, making pots of tea and breathing.
(NB: The above is a joke.)

We always use our shower.................and our oven............................whats the point of buying a decent caravan then not using the facilities???

Agree with Hawk above, the main reason we bought our current van was to get a decent shower, we even gave up the fixed bed ( I appreciate you can get a decent shower cubicle and a fixed bed but we wanted to stay with a single axle which limited the choice).
I use it all the time if I take the kids away alone. Taking an ADHD and an autistic child into showers and trying to shower myself is like running a marathon and almost impossible. To take them away on my own, it is always fully serviced plots and plenty water
If oh is there, then mix of both as he prefers facilities if they are clean.
Always use my own as am mainly on rallies with no facilities. Jusy wipe the cubicle down after a shower and I have the extractor fan in the bathroom on and the window in the shower cubicle on vent to let air circulate and let steam out.
50/50. evening shower use the ones on site. quick freshen up in the morning use the van and sometimes go to sites with no shower block so use van ( all weather dependant of course).
cant understand why some NEVER use the one in the van......would you buy a van without one? its not an ornament you know, they are designed to be used!!
