I made mine out of an old Gazebo Gover  Nothing wrong with the fabric, but the poles were naff.  Saved the cover.  I knew it would come in handy at some point.

A hitch cover serves no useful function except to hide the front part and advertise a caravan shop. I have yet to see any one towing a caravan with the hitch cover in place as that is the time that the hitch will get the most dirt.

Think thats what my O.H was getting at, he says if it gets wet when towing and you cover it up the damp can't escape easily and it does more harm than good.

Well mine serves the function of keeping the UV off the plastic Al-Ko bits and electrical plugs cable etc year in year out, except the few hours the van is actually being towed; IMO a very useful purpose. It does not advertise any company being simply plain. Having seen the leached out red plastic bits and denatured 7 pin plugs on other vans I think I will stick with using it.

I used to use a plastic bag but it kept falling apart. And the first outing in our van my hubby walked straight into the hitch in the middle of the night and damaged his shin seriously. So a luminous hitch cover for us.

Mine is the cover off some part of a Cadac - my OH found it blown into the hedge behind our pitch a couple of years ago, and as there was no-one around who it may have belonged to he decided to use it as a hitch cover. It does have Cadac written on one side of it but I put that side face down and fasten it on with a bungy cord.
