I'm not trying to be rude. It would be a lovelly worls if Kavs could go back to the dealer and get the van repaired and lots of compensation, but we live in the real world. The dealer has a living to earn and probably a family to support. Expecting him to be doing things "out of the kindness of his heart", especially in the current economical climate is at best naive.

As others have also (rudely?) said, this is a USED caravan which other people have altered. The simple answer is just to secure the other mirror and replace the broken one then it's as good as it was when you bought it. If you speak to the dealer, he may even be prepared to do it for you if you ask nicely, but it's hardly a big job to do yourself.

The garauntee his very unlikely to cover you against being "unhappy with your purchase" no matter how much you study the small print.

Had this been a new caravan then it is a different kettle of fish.

To suggest someone under these circumstances starts waving a garauntee at the dealer is a bit silly. What next, prosecuting the previous owners?

I rang the dealer to explain what happened to the mirror and he was most apologetic about it.  I didn't mention the remaining mirror after taking on board most of the comments posted here.

We fixed the problem ourselves in less than an hour using the correct mirror corners. I think in the long term we are going to take this one down completely and replace it as per Rune Casters suggestion. That way I will know how the new mirror has been fixed and will have more confidence in its stability. I think that will be a project for the winter months.

Having spent a great weekend away in the van it gets a huge thumbs up from everyone as it was really comfortable and fits our needs perfectly.

Thank you for all of your contributions and calming my near hysteria at the time of starting this thread. What a difference a couple of days make.

Glad you've got it sorted & enjoyed your 1st trip in your van.  I'd probably want to replace the other mirror too.  Like you say, at least then you'll know how well it's been done & will have peace of mind.
