Dragon 44 coments "Easy option.....pay up front before the end of the year so that your VAT invoice and receipt is issued whilst the level is 17.5%.
Really bad advice if I may say so. Yes, you could save money, but don't you think it would be wiser to make sure that the van is OK and any problems sorted before paying for it?"

Take your point Al, but the question concerned how to avoid the VAT increse. Reckon most folk will be aware of risks of paying out a small fortune without getting the goods e.g. liquidation of the dealer and losing your money. My advice did give both options to the OP and it's up to the OP to decide what suits best.
Pouring down here at Chatsworth so I have the time to consider VAT implications for purchasers straddling the VAT change. Sad, but hopefully the OP will appreciate the guidance. Off to empty the loo now...the day gets better!!!
