We may have a slightly pessimistic view but we have removed all our cushions simply for the reason if it get nicked then the scroats would have to sort some cushions out!

Our spare bedroom looks like a caravan! With bedding, cushions, pots & pans and the fridge all stacked up in one corner I cannot wait until the season starts again so I can have my room back!
Seems like a lot of hassle for nothing if you ask me.
We just plug a small oil heater on in the van, set to low on the thermostat. It dosent cost hardly anything to run and keeps the cold damp air out and everyhting fresh.
Problem solved. Oh and we leave the cupboard doors open to allow air to circulate.

yes I did the sam up until yesterday, but have got fed up with the electric cable trailing over the driveway. So yesterday, everthing out! All stored in the hallway alcove by the stairs. other stuff scattered in the bedrooms or stored off the floor in the garage. even separated the water pipe to allow the non-return valve to drain completely. Wasn't to bothered while I had heat in there, but decided not to take a risk without any.
In over 40 years of caravanning have never removed anything from the caravan except for food(which can attract vermin). Bed is all made up ready for off in the Spring. We inpsect it regularly as mice can get in anywhere we had one get into the front locker and follow some electric wires up through the front and into the van at the back of the Radio. Good job we had not left the cupboard doors open otherwise they could have got into the van and chewed the upholstery as they do.
We keep a very low wattage radiator in the van on a time switch for the coldest of days and nights and before we use th van put the heating on for a day and night and the electric blanket on to air the bed.
Went out a few days ago and not at all damp in there just very cold. I could not be bothered to bring all that stuff into the house there is no point in doing it.

We're lucky enough to have our van on the drive, so hook up about once a month in the winter, warm the van up, sit inside it and chat about comming holidays, sad as you like. We do remove bedding pillows etc, but mainly to give them a clean for the following season. Our first trip is usually in February, so it's not standing idle for to long.
We leave it all in too. Just don't have the space to spare in the house & the clutter would drive me insane.
We do move the seat cushions away from the sides & that's about it, like someone else said we'd worry about mice running riot if they got in so prefer to keep cupboard doors shut & check the 'van regularly as it's kept at home anyway.
