Have you had a look at the Swift Charisma 565 or Lunar Quasar 546 (which is what we have).  Yes they both have side bathrooms and they are on the small side, but they do have separate showers.  I think that although the Ancona bathroom is lovely, for an area where you only shower for a few minutes a day versus a bit extra living space,  it was a bit generous in size for the size of the caravan for a family.  We bought our layout so we could be self sufficient and could actually use the bathroom so a wet room for us was a no no.  Our children are also 4&6, we put them one by one in the shower we stand outside with the shower head shower them down and out they come - works perfectly well - we have both used the shower ourselves but tend to do this mainly on multi service pitches as OH moans about all the water filling and emptying but its fine.  The only thing missing in the bathroom of ours is a decent towel rail but I think the latest models now have these so Im going to get one added this service.

The only other thing that would bug me about the Ancona would be trying to prepare lunch or dinner and the children being right behind me at the table with all their mess and toys, having all that to the rear of the caravan separates the two areas.  To be honest I think the Swift with its double bunk, plus bunk which comes out over the dinette and its lovely upholstery has the edge over ours this year.

Both caravans come in at just under 25ft so would fit on your driveway too.  Whatever you decide you will have a lovely van its just the detail which works for you

Bunks are MUCH larger on the Adria, I used to grab a nap in ours and I am 5ft 8 and not small.
Kitchen is small and no separate drainer but we just bought one that drains to one side only and hung of side of sink.

We had the 542DK with a side bathroom (very compact....) not like the one your thinking off. But as we have three kids we wanted the double at the back for the eldest and twin bunks for the other two. Also able to shut them off as night was great.

If you want to keep it for a long time look at say 10 year old vans of both makes. The Adria's age really well (as in they wont look used inside or out due to the different construction used and the superior build quality) cant commont on a modern Bailey but we upgraded from a Bailey Ranger 510 5 berth 2006 to an Adria Altea 542DK 2009 and it was like a whole new generation of van. Just soooooo much better. ONLY drawback was the no electric heating as standard. I know Adria changed this but not sure when.

We loved the Adria build and strength, longer A frame, air envelope, insulation, differences that when we looked to upgrade we got an Adora 612DT 2012. LOVE IT.

While Adria keep making decent vans I would recommend that as a very good bet.

What ever you do, check the van very carefully before parting with money and if its your first try to take someone with you who has had a caravan and knows what to look out for.
Then buy with confidence and enjoy the world of caravaning. KIDS will love it. Ours do.

Your next consideration will be which air awning... as with kids the extra space is invaluable.

Oh, and as for a shower. NEVER used the one in any of our 4 vans. We go away mostly on weekends only and on longer stays to site with full facilities. We can all survive for 2 days without a shower. Top and tail the littles and yourselves.
