jimbouk, i see that you bought a receiver but i can use the one that i have in my lounge surely? Am i right in thinking that if i use this & take the card too then i will get all my sky channels that i pay for? Please correct me if i am wrong guys!

Just ordered our dish set up of eBay for roughly £40 as we already have a spare box and card... Can get by most weekends away without tv, but felt we needed something that will be reliable on signal when were away for week in Devon in June, mainly incase the weather takes a turn

the card and box are matched so to get the pacage you need both from home. only no on demand services no phone line.
if you have sky plus you gan watch all recored programs but to keep recording you will need a duel LNB and 2 cable.
Correct
when we go away we leave my son and daughter behind so at the mo leave the sky for them....looking into sky multiroom this way I can have sky down stairs and up while watching different channels and also when we go away one box can come with us....a few real neat ideas in this thread...thanks for sharing

The bit that would normally fix to wall is bolted to bracket.I removed the bracket and used a U-Bolt the same diameter as the pole on the washing line.
If that makes sense..
Great little bit of kit and very lightweight.
The reason we went for the freesat receiver is we wanted something that was permanently in the van and ready to go if we needed it,
If we get decent freeview we don't use the dish ,but the freesat is hard wired into the van and takes literately 5 mins to set up.
Just shout if you have any other questions.
Thanks to all of you to take the time & give me your advice & tips on which satellite kit to buy. Last night we ordered the one from Ebay on Netgear & it will arrive sometime tomorrow Cant wait to use it on Friday as we are off again for a long weekend but something tells me that its not going to be easy to set it up...............
Oops...i said Netgear (not sure where that came from ) but i meant to say Netgadgets!!!

Hi J+K,my single bit of advice not already given would be to remember to rotate the dish very very gradually and be patient. We bought a sat finder and found it a waste of time.I got the best results looking thro' van window and viewing sattellite signal on receiver box.The feeling of SATisfaction when you eventually get your picture is worth all the patience(pardon the pun!!!!!!).Have fun!
Steve......maybe someone should have mentioned the patience bit earlier on as i dont have much of that lately!!!!! Come Friday night i will be thinking of your advice

So am i right in thinking that i now have all i need to be able to watch sky? We are taking the sky plus box & card from the lounge (we have the full package so we should get all channels) then i have ordered this...
anything else.....obviously i need to take the scart leads from the tv in the lounge too? Tv in caravan will connect to the sky box via just a scart lead? Obviously the power supply too & then i imagine a lead running from the dish into the van?
If i sound thick then i probably am but just want to get it up & running as soon as i can when we arrive as the soaps start at 7pm & we wont arrive there until 6pm!!
