i think it is the fact that you are relaxed. i usually go to bed very early when we first go away. after a day or two im back to my usual.
we always get up early though.
Yes! We've commented that out caravan must emit some kind of relaxing pheromone because we're permanently tired when we're away no matter how long we go for.
I even bought a carbon monoxide detector because I was convinced there was something making me so sleepy.
I think with such a busy life & full time work my body just switched off when we're away, having said that I really enjoy having an afternoon snooze on the bed.
Us too lol we really thought we were being drugged lol, now we realise it's just we switch off and reeeeeelllllllllaaaaaxxxxx

I normally get up at 5am for work and usually go to bed shortly after 9 pm
When we are in the caravan, the OH usually wants to play scrabble most of the night, but I still wake up at 5 (if I get to sleep by then.) Unfortunately, it's not unknown for the scrabble to go on until 7am
I always feel so much more alive when we're away & we stay up late & get up early. I think when we're not so bogged down by work & routine we tend to just go with the flow more & knowing that we can put our feet uo at any time of the day is relaxing in itself. Not watching the clock is another great thing about it all.
something we defiantly need to be getting into....for the Friday evening if nothing else..... nowt like trying to find a super market at 9-45 pm when all the local stores close at 9.00
But I have this feeling we are not the only ones that have experienced this
Kevin we usually take pizza and garlic bread (fresh delli ones) for the 1st night its dead easy bang in the oven whilst sorting your pitch and porch awning, ready when you've finished sit down for tea and a beer.
it's tradition now on all our trips the pizzas actually travel in the oven to site
And there was me thinking it was just us. When I am at home I get up at 06:30 for work and find that I continue to do so at week-ends when I am not working. Yet in the "van" I am not surfacing until 8:30ish even when I have crashed out just after 9pm. I vote with Esther1 on this one.

Wendy once more I reckon we are alike as I think I also am more a gypsy. I have itchy feet to go back out as soon as I return home. I hate coming back. That is why I we have saved up for nearly 10 weeks. Then leave mid July - 2nd week in September then off again. Its a long winter for us. As snow is useless to travel in wheelchairs. So must make the most of the better months without it.
we do 2 long hols in just over 2 months basicaly come home to do a big wash stock up the freezer for my older kids whpo are houes sitting and of again lol. it doesnt matter were we camp i sleep like a log but the bed in the vans so comfy and big. even thought i rarly go off site i thing you bussy about more away and we dont take a tv so am allwasy doing bits so by 9 30 I am shatterd but happy

We tend to walk all day and we think we will watch a bit of TV when we get back, but end up asleep at 9pm. We get up very early though - breaky, shower and off again. Love it!
