We had the stuck it type mirrors (as having a landrover the strap on types do not fit to landy mirrors)

My OH used to get quite exasperated by them as for no reason and no matter how hard we sucked them on to the mirrors, they always started off sticking out at '3 o'clock' after 15 minutes or so they used to turn down to '5 o'clock' where they would be quite happy to stay for the rest of the journey!

They never seemed to obscure the vehicle mirrors due to them being quite big anyway.

Now he has fashioned up his own contraption using extra landrover mirrors fastened to the existing vehicle mirrors.

All additional mirrors are a compromise to some extent. All of them could fall off, not just the sucker variety.

What I'd really like to see is for car manufacturers to offer a "tow pack" upgrade for their vehicles including proper, built in extending mirrors - click a switch and your existing car mirrors move outwards on telescopic slides, yet remain electrically adjustable and heated.
