I'm a new caravanner. I went on the Caravan Club towing course, and they stressed the importance of noseweight, and of not loading up the back end.
However, my Bailey Ranger 540/6 appears to be very nose-heavy, whatever I do. I have a large 110 battery, which is towards the front, but can't move that. I only keep one gas cylinder, also at the front, but not really safe to put it elsewhere. Other than that, the front end is empty! I've moved everything to the axle area, which means stacking stuff on the toilet! Other stuff is further back, but the noseweight is consistently off the guage, so I don't even know what the weight is.
It does not appear that it's possible with this caravan to get the recommended noseweight - I've given up measuring it, as there's nothing further I can think of to do, to rectify the problem.
Any (not too technical, please!) help would be most gratefully received!

HI
The balance point of a caravan (single axel anyway) is usually about 2-3ft infront of the axel so placing items you will be taking over the axel will in effect load the back of the caravan and therefore will lift the front and reduce the nosewieght.
I have the same issue with noseweight as my car only allows 55kg but the caravan empty has 90Kg on the nose. once the 'van is loaded with all my gear the noseweight drops to around 65Kg. I have started taking the battery out and putting it in the car instead and this gives me the perfect noseweight and it tows like a dream.
Cheers
Richard
