Any supermarket carpark + Large stray trolleys rolling around= possible big dents in your caravan and a hefty repair bill to put it right.
Their cooked Brekkies may look cheap, but could end up costing you more than the price you would pay in the Hilton in the long run.
I think if i couldnt find a decent roadside cafe with plenty of designated parking for caravans, then i would simply pull into a lay-by and get my griddle pan out! It wouldnt be the first time that we have shared some with another lay-by user either, the smell wafting around from bacon and sausages cooking makes most people hungry, and when you get chatting to people then its only polite to share, even nicer when they produce a nice bottle of wine to show their apprieciation!

Celebrating 37 years of Caravanning in 2019, Recently Considered Retiring, but Totally Addicted for Life!
I started the thread so thought I would give feedback. We got to this Tesco just after 8:00am and car park reasonably empty and no problem parking van (there were two other vans there so obviously others have same idea) four cooked breakfasts 12.50 so probably 50% saving on services.
There is of course risk of damage on the car park and it was fuller when we came out ( I would suggest parking on right of car park as you face the store as that was virtually empty....probably because it's furthest from entrance). I probably wouldn't stop here unless it was early doors or late.
In terms of fines I don't think you'll get one.
All in all a little gem (given it's literally 5 mins from motor way) if you're there at the right time and a no brainer if you need petrol.
Thank you for all of your suggestions

Tescos does not object to its customers coming in with caravans, just park at end of carpark out of the way. The parking enforcement is there to prevent stays of over 2 hrs. ie use of carpark for reasons other than shopping.
The car parks are not operated by Tesco, so what Tesco think is irrelevant. Friend of mine had a ticket for parking across two bays despite staying for less then 20 minutes. Didn't pay but spent quite some weeks in exchanges of correspondance and a number of threats of legal action. As I say, its a risk, and a hassle which can be avoided. Under this kind of parking ticket they have six years in which to go to court and the car parking company never tells you that they will not chase you for the debt, so a potential long wait until you are sure they will not issue proceedings.

If you get a ticket from any of these parking people (services included) just bin it and don't even bother corresponding with them. They will use words like "legal action" and "Fine" but since it is only the law that can fine people all it is is a parking invoice.
The most they can do is go to civil court to claim non payment of an invoice, but they rarely do because its to costly. So they just resort to the sort of bully boy tactics as your friend found out.
Tesco car parks managed by this company . Yes there are ways to avoid a payment, but many of the tickets they issue are perfectly legitimate, and are issued for a breach of contract. When you use this company's car park you enter into a contract with it and have to comply with the terms of the car parking conditions posted at the entrance to the car park. The cost of proceedings can be recovered from the car driver and believe me they do have ways of recovering the charges.
e.g Once they have the name of the driver a check at the land registry will disclose whether that driver owns his own house. Thus has ample security to recover the debt.
As I say, parking in Tesco with a van is a risk and may lead to some hassle. Its the drivers choice whether they wish to have that . Pleased to see that for the OP the company car park enforcement officers were not in the area on the day of the visit.
