Our Pegasus is our third brand new Bailey since we stated caravanning in 2006.

Other manufacurers (Swift for example) may have plusher looking interiors, but they are worse for practicality. We love the big lockers and sensibly stored table.  In some new swifts they store the table under the fixed bed which would be a nightmare to get at as we have a matress topper & store the bedding from the front bed there during the day.

Yes, the plush stuff doesn't really impress us either - well ok sometimes it does a bit initially.... but as soon as we notice that more practical issues leave a lot to be desired  that puts us clean off.

I must say the carcass seemed very robust (& with no seams)  and the chassis looked really solid too. A lot of them look and feel very tinny but my OH was well impressed with the Baileys in that respect.

I think they're British too ?   Point in their favour for me us as that's got to be keeping people employed in the UK.

Yes they are British. Built in Bristol.

We're on our 2nd Bailey, both Pageant Provence models. The first was a Series5 & this one is a Series7. Both lovely vans, the first was only sold because it was stolen from our drive & found again. We couldn't take to it after that so it was sold & we bought another new one.

We have a first class dealer just up the road & IF we buy another caravan, they'll be our first port of call. I don't intend towing a caravan miles & miles to have it serviced or warranty repaired when I have all the facilities on the doorstep.

We're on our second Bailey.  They must be good vans - someone nicked our first one.

Agreed it is a fantastic dealer you have there. Worth towing from Kent to do business with

One other advantage Bailey have is their transient warranty scheme so you can take the van to any dealer for warranty work, you are not restricted to the purchasing dealer.

We are on our 4th Bailey, never had any major problems with any of them. We have a superb dealer nearby so no problems with servicing etc.

Our current Pegasus is excellent, the Alu-tech construction seems very solid and IMHO is the way forward.

Wondering now just exactly what this Alu-tech is.  Hubby noticed it said that on the side - whatever it is it certainly seems the business for caravan shells.

There are a LOT of Baileys around so inevitably there are going to be some of them that have problems, just as there are any other make. If there are ten times as many Baileys around than there are of another make, it stands to reason if the quality of the two makes is about the same, there are going to be ten times as many bad ones.

However, I am not about to defend the build quality of Bailey. We looked at more caravans, new and used than I care to remember before we changed ours and the one thing that really stood out was the lack of attention to detail with the Baileys. Screw heads showing, staples showing, gaps around doors, lots of niggly things that need not have been there. That made me wonder, if they have been cutting corners on the things you can see, where else have they been cutting corners. When we did come to change our caravan, I had two criteria; had to be a fixed bed and definately not a Bailey. In the end, we bought a 10 year old coachman and I cannot find a single screw head, staple or any other detail that is not as it should be and that's after ten years of use. If Bailey couldn't get the same level of detail as a ten year old Coachman has in a new caravan, there is something fundamentally wrong. They strike me as though they are building cheap caravans for the masses and don't really care if a few come back to be finished off, because the majority are happy with an unfinished job.

My husband certainly wouldn't be happy with the kind of thing you're talking about LDKO.   What we did notice though was how well built the shell & chassis seemed to be compared to other makes.  Also we liked the layout of a couple of them.

We really didn't look that closely at the time as we really weren't considering buying a caravan.  Just so happens the so-called `Scottish Caravan & Camping Show had nothing to see except caravans & motorhomes (no equipment etc)

I'm like your husband then. If I were laying in bet and I could see a screw head in the wall opposite or a staple, I wouldn't be able to sleep until I had done something to cover it up. That's why we went for a slightly older Coachman. They do bring a little bit more money and are quite a bit heavier, but the finish is much better.

We are really happy with our Bailey. We traded in an Elddis for that and before that an Avondale. Same layout as our previous caravan but nicer interior.
Noticed you mentioned the caravan show, was that the one at Thainstone? Couldn't manage up for it, noticed Dyce Caravans were the main sponsors, we got ours from them.
