I would like to point out this is a beautiful part of Wales. Although we had a few problems in the evenings the days more than made up for it. Snowdonia park, steam chuffers abound. Walks to die for. I will go there again.

I wonder why many sites are loathe to accept bookings for large single sex groups.

Hmm just re-confirms why we never use private sites anymore because of anti social behaviour by low life's who have no consideration for others .
At least on C.C and C&CC site's there are rules and there adhered by members .

But surely you can't tar all private sites with the same brush?? I've been camping for fourteen years, always on private sites, and with the exception of just one occasion on one site, which is generally known to be a 'party' type site anyway, I've never experienced any anti social behaviour anywhere. But then again, I don't go to sites which have pubs, clubs, and all the bells and whistles so maybe that's why.

The site in question, though, doesn't have a bar.

From their website:
"There is no bar on site as we are very much a families & couples site, and we do not allow excess noise at night."

An interesting post:
I'm sure most folk agree that respect and manners, etc, are instilled from a young age
Regardless of knowning how pitch a tent or not - humanity and respect (one would think) should prevail at all times - not just when holidaying/camping.

But hey, we all know that foul language, bad manners, disrespect and so on, is not a modern phenomena in any walk of life - but, from many reviews, it appears that that an essential factor to consider when deciding where to camp is 'Does the sight have certain guidelines regarding camper's responsibilties and adherence to rules; are complaints dealt with timely, accordingly and appopriately???
Remember that reviews are often very powerful - make use of them positively or negatvely and on as many relevant websites as possible - they really do help to influence change - in many ways....

I recall being in my local a few years back and seeing a 'pubwatch' notice. The gist was if you acted inappropriately, your details were circulated round every pub in the district, and you were banned from the lot. A decent incentive to behave I would say. 'Campsitewatch'? A national database of known numpties, banned from campsites nationwide, notices up at every site reception as a deterrent to antisocial behaviour? Might seem extreme, but would firstly make people think twice before going OTT, and would also ultimately rid sites of the small minority of people that cause these problems.

Might be a rambly old pile of nonsense that, I have only just woken up after all!

In defence of Hendre Mynach, I visited that site at Royal Wedding this weekend this year, one of the busiest weekends of the year and I found the wardens and staff to be superb - proactive, responsive, helpful and courteous.
The site was also very peaceful and spotlessly clean despite the busy weekend.
I would go back anytime. I hope you get nicer people next time you go away. It must be very annoying.

Hi sweetrunninggir. I totally agree with you that the staff are friendly and helpfull but when we needed them they had gone home with no coverage. Their emergency number was the office number which was not manned and was an answer phone.

This is why i joined both clubs. They have rules which are generally adhered to by all , Campers and caravaners.  I caravan but still get annoyed at times by caravanners who insist on having their tvs in the awning oblivious to the world around them. Please guys remember that we have to share this world with every one else, whatever we are doing.

I couldn't agree more Skittish, there is a new breed of campers out there.  But the definately come in both tents and vans.  We had fire works being let off between the vans last year, in the early hours of the morning and these were new caravaners.  Forgetting about the fact that a campsite if full of awnings and tents and this is pretty dangerous, they had the neck to be afronted when a friend of ours confronted them.

Idiots.

I can only hope the louts begger back of abroad again when we pull out of the recession.  Not so sure they will though.

Tony B
