I use an old surround sound speaker with a length of speaker wire, and then I can put it in the awning (on low) I have the radio on all day at home and like to have it on on low in the evening while sat chilling with a glass of wine, I always check that it cannot be heard loudly away from the caravan,
Much better than sat in the tin can watching tv like 90% of the site,
(bear in mind they wouldn't hear my radio over the tv anyway!)
Hope this helps Chalkie, I am sorry to read the lack of help people pass on and just use any opportunity to have a go for little reason and jump to conclusions.

gazmister123 your comment on using a speaker and a previous idea from breaking into the existing wires or wires not used at the back of the radio seems like a good idea but a remote or wireless speaker also seems a good point. But how would this work how does the speaker pick up the frequency.

I am not sure about wireless ones to be honest, I haven't used them before, (although anything else with the potential need for pluggng in or using batteries is a no go with our lot as we seem to be forever changing batteries in toys or running out of plugs.)

Hells bells Skittish are you reading my thread properly. The noise of nature would be louder than my radio at six feet away you say you would put up with it and let it spoil your break. What are you on!!!!!
No problem then...run some earphones on a long wire from the caravan radio (or wireless earphones as suggested) and sit in your awning with them on...and you can have them as loud as you like without the remotest chance of annoying anyone
It must be the silly season judging by some of the responses to
this thread. I'm sure some are not really serious - they enjoy a 'debate'
We listen to our 'vans radio in the awning occasionally on low volume. I do go and wander across to our neighbours to ensure they can't hear it. Saying that I find others don't reciprocate - endless loud mobile telephone conversations - sorry but why on earth would I want to hear about poor old Aunty Deirdre's bad toe, very loud television (hate Corrie) and those that seem to constantly screech at their children. Personally I would prefer a little faint music over any of these!

We bought pair of small speakers £7 from tesco extension lead from b &q £8 connected to tv, wire through window two speakers on table in awning works a treat and we do not disturb anyone as we constantly check noise level. been away 2 weeks and people in next van did not know we had music until they joined us for a drink and thought it a brill idea went out next day to get same. as with any kind of noise on site, and there will always be some that someone is irritated by, as long as you are considerate it is your holiday to enjoy your way.
Just to put another slant on this I often play my harmonica whilst I am away. I try to play it softly and try not to interfere with people, hubby likes to play his guitar quietly too. We don't like much t.v.and this is our way of relaxing.
if i wanted speakers in the awning i would utilise the rear speaker out on the stereo unit if its not being used and run the wires into the front locker i would fit a stereo jack plug socket to the end of the leads fit a jack plug to the speaker leads i would then either route the leads underneath and through the gas drop out vent or open the locker lid to plug in ( make sure the cables don't get pinched when the lid is closed ) and trail them into the awning , use the front and rear control on the stereo to get the right balance for inside and out and the jobs sorted
