i always used to take my caravan tyres to our local Tyre Spot who i always found cheapest, however my last van was the first id had with tyron bands fitted and they said they could not do them so i had to go elswhere so if yours are fitted with tyron bands best if you check that place you want to take them can do them

£40 each is very cheap, are you sure they are van tyres ??
Yes, they're commercial tyres at cost - hubby was speaking to someone in the paper shop & the lady who works there OH has a garage so a huge favour that saved us a packet.

Nice one just wanted to make sure they were as its an easy mistake to make getting car tyres, the implications are drastic if you fit car tyres.
No need for rudeness,I was asking a genuine question ,what are the dangers ? I am sure that my husband ( who tows the damn thing ) is well aware of the dangers but i am not ,hence the question .
Normal car tyres tend to get very hot due to the load placed on them and then shred damaging the wheel well. That one of the reasons for commercial tyres. Commercial tyres I think have 7 or more ply. For new commercial tyres at cost, £40 each does seem a bit low hence the concern. What make or brand are these tyres?
Van tyres are heavy duty tyres i.e commercial tyres they have more ply's than a standard tyre, Ply i think is the steel cords that make the base of the tyres.
If a tyre blows it can rip the side of your van out, cause the van to jack knife or even turn over.
I had the price a bit wrong - they were £40 each plus fitting/balancing. No idea of the brand - OH sorted it all out. Might not be the best on the market but we'll only be doing about 800 miles with the van in the next year. We'll probably replace them with more expensive ones before (hopefully) doing the long haul down to France next summer.
Now to sound completely dim - what are 'Tyron Bands'? Is it the seal that stops a puncture becoming a full blow-out?
For more info on Tyron bands have a look here Many caravanners recommend them as they prevent the tyre coming off the rim when you have a blow out. Hope this helps. About £100 for two tyres.
