Thanks for the dates (Derbyshire) - usually i have them sorted as i work for an education establishment! Both daughters are now finished with full time education and i am (probably) about to be made redundant. So next year will be the first year that we can holiday during school term! That means cheaper hols, just as well as money will be tight due to eldest daughter hoping to go to university and me with no job!
Thanks for the reminder Next year is the first year we'll be tied to school holidays as our little big girl starts school in September! Why didn't we buy a caravan four years ago?!!!
I'm with you there, Rune Caster. In the short time that I and the family have been caravanning I have found that a common comment from people is that they 'love to get out there and meet new friends'. Well, so do the children! Don't forget, they are the next generation of caravanners, and we need them to enjoy it!
There are many instances of modern English when nouns have been "adjectivised" i.e turned into adjectives such as caravanning - to live for a short time in a caravan; caravanner - one who participates in caravanning; one therefore can say 'vanning is a shortened form of caravanning.
There is no reason why application can not be made to Oxford for these words to be included in it's dictionary along with other new words
Just noticed the word Jeff was referring to was Vannining which of course is not anywhere yet but as I use the Cambridge style of reading I read it correctly as vanning

------------- Caravanning is a way of getting a cheap holiday out of an expensive hobby
