this is not mine (belongs to Camcroft) but does show one using the same porch awning that was adapted for a fiesta so proves it can be done. I can vouch that the awnings are lightweight and easy to use and once you start leaving them zipped on you are only looking at around 10 mins max to get up. Having said that we have just used our full awning for a week in France and finally cracked getting that up quickly and without arguments lol.
you have to bear in mind when people give their times the number of people helping will vary, also their age and fitness level which will affect the time. In our case there is me 56 and about knackered and my mrs 53 who is achondraplaisic (normal body short arms and legs)and is only 4 ft 4ins and used to manage a full awning in about an hour to be all done and sitting in it,but she has recently had her second spine op in 2 years and can not do much other than hold a pole so we sold big awning and have bought a kampa rally 260 i helped in laws put their kampa rally 200 up last year and it was a sinch so as we dont need as bigger an awning due to new larger van, a porch every time from now on for us

Thankyou this is theone I was sent. I want a smaller on as it still use all 3 poles so still would mean Bob does it all. Still around the £340+++
I have gone the adpated route like many before! I bought a caravan porch awning secondhand on here (techlite Outdoor Revolution) and then paid Tent Valeting Service to remove the caravan beading and replace with a zip that matches the one on the pathfinder for zipping the full awning on. Only difference to using on a caravan is that it is zipped on rather than threaded on through the beading rail. Cost me a total of £100 in all) I managed to get the awning in green and cream so matches well with the green/cream pathfinder.
Someone on the tt section adapts new awnings and sells them though it costs more than my version.
The techlite only has one pole in place that is threaded through the outside and then bent into postion in the same way you do with many dome/tunnel tents so is a very lightweight fibreglass pole system. Just peg it down after that. Once the awning is zipped on you can actually leave it attached when you take down the unit though you do take out the poles of course. this would be really good if you only intend to use the porch.
Gives enough room for the dog cages x 2 a small table and chairs and storing coats though is not quite as fitted as the full awning is as the sides are not attached. I am working on a simple way to improve that now.
This is a better one for us one pole. Is that the exact name of the one you bought as there are various ones. Also Tent Valeting any idea how to get in touch with them. Thanks

Responses will invariable be different from users, but we no longer use our full awning at all. Took two to fit and too much bother IMO. Agree on point already alluded to that some porch awnings can be 'weak' in certain weather conditions, but a decent one will stand up as well as a full awning.
The other consideration too, might be the practicalities of dismantling and transporting a full awning if you experience naff weather (we are in Britian after all). I did pull down the full one during light rain but it was a pig to get dry once home, whereby our porch easily hangs and dries quickly over the garage beams.

this is one pole only! It is bendy one pole in several pieces that snaps together and not as big as it looks as that is the one I have too though not at that price!

Thankyou I have sent an email to tentvaletingservice to ask about it & the price inc.
Hi Bean, tent valeting service never answer emails lol but are good on the telephone! I had to supply the porch awning, which I managed to get secondhand, but they suppiled the zip and did the sewing for £55.
Your best bet is to find a one similar, either new or second hand and then get any decent sewing service to add the zip. There are a few one pole type porch awning makes but you need one that does not go near the main unit in any way as that could damage your canvas. Caravans can usually use stick on sucker things for poles near the caravan but that wont work for FCs

I have sent for a Gerlert Ottawa canopy 4 as we wanted it to shile up from the sun due to prickly heat also with the help of a windbreak and a normal scooter cover over my wheelchair it should work quite well.
The canopy is the type that fits onto a tent to become the extra bit for them I have seen these even if they are abit lower than the top of our Pennine it can fit close enough to it to work. The height is 8ft 3ins x width of 10ft 3ins x length outwards from the tent they use (now our pennine) 6ft 6ins can you visulise the windbreak before it will serve very well yet small enough for us to put up easily.

Have been googling & perusing the various suggestions.... I really am keen on theis Techlite one, top of the list so far for us I think, thanks for the info Andcow
Just wondering how much rain comes in when it's windy & rainy ? And do you find it's stable enough or does the wind make it seem a bit likely to get ripped off ?
Definitley sounds to me like this is easier & quicker than putting up a stonking great canvas full awning I must say. Might well be the right thing for us I think.
Stable enough. It comes with storm straps already attached and we use the skirt runner thing for the unit side. You peg underneath your unit and can then pull in the sides too to make it tighter. You could also get those buffer poles if you wanted an either tighter fit. I think in really heavy wind you would have to take it down but that would be true of a full awning too.
We have just bought our caravan, and it came with 2 awnings, a suncamp senic plus and a full dorma with bedroom tents carpets etc.
Having had a look at it I think its going to be a nightmare to put up, we moved on to van from the tent cos we were sick of the seting up, so I am going to use the senic (going today so best get off here!) and have a check of the dorma make sure its all there and sell next year and try a bigger but easier tent style affair.
Does this make sense, also I see you can get a ground sheet for the senic does anyone recomend this, just thinking back to the tent with sig and carpet and would like that sort of thing in an awning.

HEEEEEEEELP !!!!! Andcow - or anyone really .... on `googlin' I can only seem to get results for Techlite which has alloy pole - not finding any with fibreglass poles at all .... that's both for what are described as Techlite 1 & also Techlite Pro
Can anyone tell me exactly what model Techlite I should be looking for please ?
