Beware if you happen to be staying on a CC grass pitch though, having just witnesses a camper get the ticking off of his life from a warden for having a small pup tent pitched in his awning, when there were clear signs all around the site stating no ground sheets other than the breathable type allowed on grassed pitches, and even those were to be lifted daily.
I can vouch for it dropping cold during the nights now, we set our caravan heater onto the 'frostgaurd' setting, about 4C, although we do like to sleep with a window slightly open for some fresh air, so that didnt help, but the heater did kick in on a couple of nights during our fortnights stay up in Yorkshire, and that was inside the caravan, so it must have been quite cold for anyone sleeping out in an awning.
