I have undone one of the arm cutions today and then sewed it back together again to see if i could do it.It all went ok but the problem I have is how to put the buttons back,I have a proper needle but could not work out how to end it off at the back,so am thinking i might have to use buttons at the back and front.any tips would be a help.
When I got my buttons covered by skiddaw upholstery I also bought buttoning twine and needle and button blanks that are used on the underside. This clip on youtube shows use how to attach the buttons. Just replace the second button they attach with the blank. Skiddaw also has a 'how to do it' section on their website but I found the following clip easy to follow. Once you do the first one you can get the jist of it.

Stocky - do you have a link for that button covering on ebay - I tried looking last night but gave up the ghost when starting to get agitated LOL.
Winsford is a nice place - we stayed at Elm Cottage site a couple of times as it is easy travelling to Crewe to visit the parents and my Nana.
Thanks
Louise

I've had the fabric for mine for a few months now but waiting for the time to start - probably over the winter. Got fabric from The Famous Bankrupt Shop where it's £3.90 a metre but it's the luck of the draw what they have in so have to keep calling in until right fabric appears.
How have you fastened yours on - velcro or zips. Our original have zips but not sure what to do.
To finish teh refurb got some fabulous reasonably priced new carpets from www.caravanmats.com.

Sometimes a little rain must fall before you reach a rainbow.
The work will wait while you show the child the rainbow, but the rainbow won't wait while you finish the work.
Maybe I should just make slip over covers for my seats and that way I can avoid having to do all the buttons etc and they can be removed for laundering.
MMMMMM now that has got me thinking.

Done the corner wrap around cushions and 1 back seat cushion today. My cushions have not got zips they are sewn around after the cushion goes in.I have hand sewn them as I would not get them under the sewing machine.I am finding it hard work but it will be worth it in the end.My hands ache a bit now.
Velvet Kitten - ours have been removable from new. I think they should be dry cleaned but they wash beautifully and tumble dry - hope new ones are as good but will try a sample piece first. Will also be putting a layer of new wadding on top of each cushion and then holding it in place with tubular stockinette, this will give a more luxurious feel and look.
Stoky13 - you seem to be getting on quite well.

Hi Jean It is going ok ,My cushions are quilted on the top so I have used the quilted top bit and recovered over it, It helped me to quilt the new fabric I just followed the stiching if you get my meaning. The only problem I have had was the piping around the sides i coverd the origianal piping but it was to thick to sew so decided to leave it off.I think another couple of days then should have them all done.
I'm not brilliant at sewing but throws do my head in and I can't afford to fork out of them to be done professionally. if anyone's got a suggestion as to how I could make some simple slip on covers I would appreciate it.
If you want very basic you can make an open ended rectangle bag for the cushions, slip them in and then just hand sew the ends in place for a more fitted look.
Got a local upholsterer to do my buttons I picked them up yesterday, cost 15p each with the twine and she more or less gave me the back ones.I have got one large seat and back left to do.Hubby will be busy buttoning today
Helen you could cut the top cover out then sew ties on the sides and ends then tie at the back. Are you wanting to cover yours because you want to keep yours new or cause you don't like them?I have changed mine cause it was pinky flowers and pink curtains
