How about M62 to Howden and then the A614,all depends on which part of the east cost you are going to.

I've travelled from Rotherham to the Bridlington loads of times. Usually via the A1 and A64, but also on occasion on the M62 and then the coast road

Used to tow in a 1.6 Zafira and never had any problems with towing

And i certianly wouldnt get out and push. i'd rather turn round and go the long route

I would warn her that she might need to push on the worst hills,

When you find the right spot ask her to push hard from the back and allow your Tdi to pull away quiickly, if she wants she will soon walk the 500 miles

In the mean time your local wine shop can provide a painkilling liquid..
