We think a deposit would be a good idea. It seems selfish to block book pitches that you don't use or 'might' use.

You won't get a pitch at all at Rowntree until August as it is shut after the new year for refurbishment.

As I said in earlier post, I think it has got better. I booked Rownree Park for a long weekend and Chatsworth for Whit bank holiday last December and have made  weekend bookings for other sites during the year.

The only problem I have had is trying to book a week when the weekends were full, don't know what you can do about this.

Have also noticed that people must be "releasing" bookings earlier than a day or two before if they are not going. Have seen Chatsworth weekends appear in the late availability lists this year.

I don't think the statistics published by the CC support that view.

I think deposits are the only way to do it really, Ive tried to get numerous dates for both elvaston and chatsworth and they are continuously booked out. the C & CC club take a percentage of the full fee on booking, it seems to work well and I certainly wouldnt mind paying a deposit if it meant we were able to get on some of the more popular sites. This year i will be armed with my diary and ready to go as soon as the CC opens bookings, see how far I get!

It drives me mental the amount of selfish CC members there are out there.

I have often tried to book a site using the online system only to be told there are no spaces available for the given dates - so I ring the site and have been able to book that way.

I visited a site last year which I would use frequently and whilst at the washing up/veg prep area overheard a conversation that made me positively mad.

One member was telling another how they book up lots of sites for different weekends and then depending on the weather or their circumstances depended on which one they went to and they did not bother to cancel the others.

I think that non returnable deposits taken to stop this happening.  I find it's a shame that members are still allowed to be members for doing this.  I have complained to the club too but I did not get a reply.

There should be a system that will only allow you to book one site and unless you cancel that booking another one cannot be made.

Sorry for my little rant.

I was also going to say Rowntree is closing for refurb so wonder which other sites in York area will be booked up to make up or it!! Mind you keswick C&CC site is always booked up at weekends and that has a deposit system.

I heard a similar conversation while we were away in the summer - this lady had booked a pitch at the lovely and very popular site we were on every night from May until Sept "in case her daughter wanted it"

ARRRGGGGHHHHH! THIS IS SO UNFAIR!

I too have complained to the club. No reply here either.

Weekends are a real problem. We would like to go down to Bladon Chains on the Sat of half term week, but the site shows as full. Bet it isn't. As I am a teacher I can't take my holidays in school time!

I think deposits are the way forward as well. It would seem the club thinks otherwise, unfortunately.

It is NOT possible to book different sites for the same dates on the CC system!

You CANNOT book longer than four weeks at a CC site! [Unless you have booked a seasonal pitch]

I hear this every year, but its always someones brothers aunts deceased cats ex-best-friends dustbin mans landlords illegitimate sons Thai brides housekeepers gardener that manages to multiple book CC sites for one weekend.

How is it done?
Has anyone on here actually been able to book more than one site for the same date using the same membership number?
Does anyone ACTUALLY KNOW someone that has done it? Again, how?

We hear the same repetitive garbage every year on how the CC should do this, should do that, blah, blah blah.

I don`t know anyone that has been able to multiple book sites on the same date, and don`t know anyone that has claimed to do so.
As you need your membership number to book a site, according to the CC this prevents you having multiple bookings on the same date. If that is incorrect, then someone has to put in print on here HOW - then I will happily admit I am wrong and have been misled.

So - its put up or shut up time!

Concur with you on that one ITS NOT POSSIBLE as the booking system does not allow site reservations to overlap .
But as you say there's always someone claiming to have done the impossible

Could not agree more David.

What annoys me is the frequency of the postings on this subject on other forums as well as this one.

What amazes me is the number of people who claim to be CC members who claim this practice is widespread and really believe it is fact! Why they remain members if they truly believe it goes on is beyond me!

I agree with you both, but in this case the post from Velvet Kitten was talking about booking lots of DIFFERENT weekends, presumably booking every weekend but actually using 1 in 3 or something like that. This would appear to be ok on the system and as long as they cancel in good time will not lead to any action. If it happens it is still not very considerate of other members.

My understanding from recent CC information is that three no shows [i.e failing to cancel booking] and your out!!!
