Not specific to Bailey, Thetford themselves actually advise that flush tank be drained and in fact it's good practice for all fluids to be drained down when travelling as any fluid left in tanks is unstable.

As for draining this week? It should already be done for the reasons above and the only other consideration is whether you want to pressure-fill the system with Dazzer's recommendation, to fully evacuate all remaining fluid. This might be dictated on whether you intend to use the van again this year.

I use the floe drain down system in conjunction with a digital tyre compressor set at 15psi, (vans max pressure is 20psi before seals and joints leak), (use Floe system when returned back home), Always drain down before leaving site, hot water heater switched off before breakfast, use all hot water in washing up, so only cold or luke warm water left in heater unit, and when drained dose not burn the grass if it comes into contact with it, two reasons for this 1. extra weight in van. 2 stability (water surging about in tank), it is always good practice to drain down after  every trip.

Yeah with you on the water system, we always drain before leaving site, but I'd not drained the toilet flush, not that there will be much left in it. Wasn't sure with frost forecast if I needed to pop up and do this but I'm going up later to be on safe side. I also wondered if the one chem additive altered the freezing point of the flush water..

Interested to hear that you use the floe attachment to remove residual water.. Still to be convinced how necessary this is for the welfare of the van but guess gives you piece of mind if nothing else.

i asked thetford some time ago by email about anti freeze in use and during the winter or any other time.the reply as below.

Thank you for your e-mail.

Any antifreeze used should be non acidic and non corrosive. Generally any non toxic anti freeze that is mono propylene glycol based should be ok. If using anti freeze please adhere to the manufacturers instructions at all times.

Please refer to your Thetford Users Manual with regards to using the toilet in the winter. Please be aware that Thetford accept no responsibility for damage caused by any anti freeze products.

Would adding a small amount of diluted car anti freeze into the flush and give it a small pump through to protect the pump internals and pipes do any harm?
