Hi jeff,“This has popped up now and again. My view is you might not drink the water from the barrels but you cool the hot water for dishes with the cold water. So if the barrel has any germs in it or the pipes, you must be putting germs on your plates etc by using the cold water. ” Don’t have that problem, wash dishes in very hot water (no cold water added) that way all germs are killed off, I remember old saying about germs when at school, ( A high degree of heat they die, if merle worm they multiply) So just wash and let dry in rack, also saves drying them with dish cloth, one less job to do while away, lazy sod me.

Hi jeff, Insomniac to-night, I’d better get the anti-bacterial and dish cloth out, now where did I put those marigolds?, ah! well they do say fairy is kind to your hands . May look into David’s suggestion and get paper plates.

we always empty aqua rolls when packing up after last outing and put a bit of steriliser in it, waste container gets a good clean out then a bit of bleach or disinfectant put in they then come home and in the cupboard and are cleaned out a couple of times in between first outing the year after. Then first outing aqua roll done with miltons and waset with disinfectant all been well for 20yrs or so we no longer drink from van water but still have to be carefull where germs etc are concerned better safe than sorry for the small cost of miltons/puraclean etc

I use puriclean at the beginning of the season, before my first trip out. At the end of the season, I drain everything down and air dry the water container. (I also air dry the water container after every trip). It it's dry it won't breed germs over winter. Then in the spring, I fill with puriclean and pump through the pipes, leave for an hour or so and all is done. I don't have any onboard tanks though, or water heater tank.

Never cleaned our two aquarolls out in 10 years. We don't drink the water in the van!
We do rinse out the aquaroll with milton at the beginning of the season, but don't drink the water. for that, we have a separate 10 litre food quality container which is kept in the awning. We use this to fill our Brita-filter jug for water that we drink, or for making tea, coffee, etc.
